Was so happy for find a derm who had fellowship in cosmetics. My acne scars bother me a ton and I had been flying to NYC to find a specialist who I connected with and did subcision. With Dr Spock, procedure was Painless - I was very numbed up with local), and after a tiny bit swollen and needle spots but no pain or bruising present. My scars already look better and while I will have to continue several modalities for different types of acne scars, I’m grateful to have found him. He explained everything in detail. Def recommend him. Gives realistic expectations about how he can and can’t help in treatment algorithm. Updated on 11 Nov 2018: I have been flying else to find a derm with fellowship training in cosmetology. Tethered depressed acne scars. Most just want to give me CO2 (which Im sure would help), however it’s not going to untether my depressed scars. No pain, quick, nice bedside manner and great results. He seemed very knowledgeable with how he could and couldn’t help too. No pressure- seemed to genuinely wanted to help. Def recommend
Awesome place!! I’ve been to many dermatology offices and seen many doctors to help me with my keloids on my back. No one else had any success in reducing the appearance(over 10 visits of shots in my keloids and no results!!). Dr. Spock at WE has a regimen mixture that reduced the appearance within 2 weeks!!! Sooo relieved! Amazing staff as well always so kind and patient.
Had a few moles that needed taken off and would go back with any other problems. Doctor did a full skin check and told me what to watch for in the future. Also talked to me about the dangers of not using sun screen. He is a great doctor and very thorough. Staff was also very pleasant and helpful and answered all my questions.
A full face laser treatment for acne scars using the DOT laser (fractional CO2 laser) costs $1500 per session with our practice, Water's Edge Dermatology. Improvement in scarring can be seen after one session but better results can be seen with multiple treatment sessions. I also perform subcision for depressed acne scars which can sometimes be combined with a dermal filler like Restylane. I also perform TCA cross which can be used to treat ice-pick scarring. Prior to any procedure you should have a consult to discuss the types of scars you have and the best treatment options.
Stitches provide the wound with more strength as it heals. In areas with higher tension or lots of mobility, such as the hips/buttocks or arms/shoulders stitches would be preferred. Stitches that are left in for too long however can leave unsightly marks on the skin. One way to avoid this problem is to have subcuticular (just under the skin) stitching which is then covered with a layer of dermabond. This is a technique the gives the strength of sutures with the favorable cosmetic outcome of dermabond. Talk with your surgeon about the possibility of having subcuticular stitching. This can be done when the incision is stitched together in a straight line (linear repair) but cannot be done if a flap or skin graft must be performed to close the defect which results after removing your melanoma.
The redness and pigmentation is called post-inflammatory pigment alteration and this is a result of the inflammation of your acne not of accutane treatment. I typically treat patients with accutane for one month past the last "pimple" they develop, but you should discuss the dose and length of treatment directly with your physician prescribing Accutane. After a treatment course of Accutane you should expect to wait up another 6 months for the redness and pigmentation to completely fade. This is a normal part of the healing process after acne is treated. Any redness that is persistent at that time can be treated with laser or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) which can help reduce the redness.
