Dr. Peers did a great job and procedure was not painful at all. I didn't even have to take pain meds. You will be amazed how much confidence you get when you tighten those bat wings. The worst part of the procedure was wearing the compression garment. I was awake and talking during the entire lipo procedure. I will post before and after once I reach 3 months which will have the final result.
I am 5’2” close to 130 lbs, 38 years old. I exercise at least 3 times a week, and a mother of 2 children, I had been noticing issues with my stomach I have never had. I was getting love handles and a lovely roll hanging over my jeans that drove me nuts.. Let me start by saying, I had the BEST Dr. & staff in the world. Just as everyone has mentioned the procedure was very easy and I even ate lunch (provided by the Dr & his staff) during the procedure. It took approx 5 hours and I was helped into my garment w/ pads to help absorb the leakage. I was there on my own as I drove from out of town for the procedure. The staff had arranged for lodging at a nearby hotel. I did not know my way around Goshen & the Dr. even drove ahead of me to show me the route to the hotel. NOW tell me, HOW MANY DR.’s would be THAT caring and nice.. NONE that I know of. I had moderate discomfort but nothing like I had expected. I only needed Tylenol and that was it, and that was only for the first 24 hours. I am one month out and I definitely notice a difference; however; I keep hoping for more. I took pics on a weekly basis and will post soon. Was it worth the price? I am still trying to decide. There is no better Dr. however than Dr.P & his staff in Goshen, IN. If I ever have anything else done, there is no doubt in my mind, that is who I am contacting.. If you are considering this procedure.. look no further. Please contact me with any questions.. I had contacted a few of the Dr’s previous patients during my research and we all had a great positive experience.
I had smart Lipo yesterday. I am a kidney pancreas transplant patient from 6 years ago. I had to get permission by my doctor and was pleased that he said I could do this. There was some concern as to the amount of fluid used so they used less of the fluid for the procedure. I will try to explain how it all went. 1. They had me change into a pair of underwear that had a panel on the front and back, with string sides, warm footies and a nice robe 2. They weighed me (174) at 5'4". They made sure I had taken my antibotic and asked if I would like something to drink. 3. I was given a Zanax to relax me. 4. The first step was little slits which merely was a tiny stinging sensation of about 1 second. 5. They also gave me a pain killer. 6. After the slits I felt nothing. I believe that is when they injected the fluids into my abdoment. 7. I lost track of time but when they started the actual suction (which is their step 3) all I could feel was vibration. 8. We talked the whole time and the assistant and doctor were so nice. After they were finished the assistant pressed on my abdomen to push out fluid and a little of the fat came out too. 9. Then the assistant (and my hubby) helped me into the garment. It zips up both sides and is pretty snug. I slept all the way home and have not taken any pain medication. AND yes, I did go to work the next day, although I was pretty sore. Over night I did "Leak" onto my pads and this morning I had to change the pads (I used kotex pads) and then this evening I also changed my pads although the leaking has gone down quite a bit. I could see a difference right after they finished. They did one side of my abdomen then the other. I look pretty flabby right now, but smaller. I weighed myself to see if I had gained weight and I was 8 pounds heavier this morning but then tonight I had already lost 4 of those pounds. They told me this was normal. They also called to check up on me. I am scheduled for the back of my arms this next Tuesday and then my thighs the following. The garment is tight and you will probably need help zipping it up. You will probably be sore, but to me, it's not that bad. If you are considering having this done you should ask if they provide the garment in the cost and if you have any other medical issues, be sure to discuss them with your physician first. Best wishes! Updated on 14 Jan 2009: I also had my arms done 3 wks ago and the results thus far are fantastic. My legs were 2 weeks ago and they are still a bit sore. I can not tell the difference on my legs yet but my friends say they can. My stomach is at least half the size. That is amazing. I am went from a loose size 16 to a loose size 14. I'm pretty sure I could wear a 12, and I'm speaking of cheap jeans too! I am not sorry. My slits are not completely healed, but I am a slow healer. I have a couple small lumps but nothing major. I'm very pleased with my total results. Many thanks to the professional and upbeat Dr and staff! Updated on 1 Feb 2009: My lower ab smart lipo was six weeks ago and I look SO much smaller. I have not really lost much weight (maybe 4 pounds) but I look much better and more proportioned. I also had my arms done and they look fantastic. My thighs (upper) were done 4 weeks ago and I am not sure but it seems my pants are looser in the thigh area. My arms are still a little numb but who cares!! Dr did a fantastic job and he was professional and his office was very clean and up to date. I would do this again. I do have some lumps in my tummy but Dr is going to review them and touch up if needed. Updated on 11 Feb 2011: Its been 3 years since I had smart Lipo and I have actually lost weight and my arms look fantastic. There is a knot in my stomach, but to no fault of the doctor. This can happen. I had a large "over hang" caused by an appendicits operation from when I was a child, the smart lipo helped reduce it. Although I am not perfect, I do look better.
One day after. Can allready see that I'm more contoured. I have had 3 babies one after the other and felt I could use a little contouring. I had outer and inner thighs done and also what they call the banana roll. I went to one place where they were distant, rude, etc. Just not a good experience there. I decided to check out one more place around my hometown (Goshen, IN) and I am so glad I did. First the pin pricks for the local numbing then the larger laser needle going in and numbing and melting the fat. They put on music for me and talked to me the whole time. They even bought me food. I only felt a little pain at the begining but nothing that was unbareable. After the procedure was over I had to stand up and get dressed, well I almost fainted. The feeling of being sick to my stomach and fainting was a worse feeling than the lipo. It's a breeze! They gave me painkillers and I haven't had to take any. I am a bit sore but nothing bad. The holes have almost stopped leaking. I would recommend ordering Spanx offline rather than wearing what the doc gives you to wear. I will update later with some before and after images!
I will say that the Doctor (Dr. Peers) I originally went to was not great at this procedure. He placed it too superficially. I followed up after I noticed some lumps were not going away. He looked for a second and said to wait it out. I was very unhappy and looked awful. I called Dr. Chadwell, a facial plastic surgeon and he disolved the lumps with an enzyme. The results are great after Dr. Chadwell helped and I just recommed to anyone considering this to go to a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon. I will never make this mistake again.
It is unlikely the two events are connected. If however you did get considerable swelling from the nose - transmitted to the ears via the eustachian tube, this could temporarily magnify a ringing sensation.
With the cast on and no bleeding, along with only a few minutes of pain, you probably didn't expeerience any damage. When in doubt, check with your surgeon.
Most likely any slight bruising will be gone by three weeks. Swelling and slight soreness will not be gone, though. Also any skin tightening from the smartlipo laser will not have had much time to work. Week by week things will change, and by mid summer you will see more of the nice progress you are waiting for.
A good surgeon will get a good result with each of the several variations of liposuction available. Each method has its own minor advantages and disadvantages. Smartlipo refers to the laser which melts the fat and also creates some skin tightening. The fat still needs to be suctioned, following the lasering. The neck and arms especially will show the benefits of the laser for tightening.
Nose hair would be impractical to try to harvest. And although it might seem like there is a lot, there really isn't. It is just at the very front of the nose.
