I had my rhinoplasty done with Dr. Charbel Medawar several months ago in Dubai. As everyone recommends, the most important is to find the right doctor. Search for reviews, recommendations, ask for pictures from previous surgeries etc., consult before the surgery. Since the doctor will be the one you’re putting your trust in, you need to be sure that you are comfortable with having him/her perform your surgery. Since Dr. Medawar performed my previous surgery I was confident to entrust him with my rhinoplasty as well. I booked for the consultation, Dr. Medawar was very precise, explained everything on what was he planning to perform, what shall I expect before and after surgery, and he was direct with what he is realistically able to accomplish and discussed also some limitations of the result. I had bulbous tip, wide nostrils with a little cut on the top after my accident (it shows on the picture I posted) and a bit droopy tip. When the operation day came, I met with the doctor who marked my nose and was moved into the operating room. After my surgery, I was surprised at how little pain I was in, comparing to my previous surgery for breast and butt augmentation. When I got home, I remember looking at my nose in the mirror constantly, wondering what would be the result when the bandages came off. I felt my nose was swollen and there were also bruises on my face but it was just for like a week or so. It was not painful too much, just tension feeling, especially for the first few days. One week after the surgery, I went to hospital for final check up, and the doctor removed my cast off. When the doctor removed the cast, it looked, well already, only the tip of my nose seemed thicker due to swelling, which made me panic a bit. The doctor assured me the swelling will subside continuously within one year. Now, several months after surgery as the swelling went down, I absolutely love my new nose. I started getting compliments about my face, but nobody really pointing to my nose since it’s natural. If people don’t point to your nose , it means that doctor did a good job :-) This has been really a life-changing experience for me. The nose is such a central feature on your face, I could never imagine how a proportionate nose will give my face totally different and softer look, a look that I am super comfortable with. I would like to thank doctor Medawar for an excellent job, patience kindness and unbeatable treatment. Many thanks to the professional team and all the hospital staff as well. My experience has been wonderful.
I came from Canada to have a septo-rhinoplasty done by Dr Charbel after reading his reviews and personally knowing a few of his patients. Dr Charbel communicated with me for months on Whatsapp and answered all questions I had. I finally scheduled my consultation and surgery for October 10th. When I arrived at Clemenceau hospital, I was taken care of by a great staff who performed my blood work and pre-review. Maggie at Clemenceau was exceptionally helpful and kind with her nursing. Dr Charbel arrived and went over the procedure with me. Although late for the scheduled surgery, I did not feel rushed at all and he listened to me while explaining the limitations of what he can and cannot do. He promised me a smaller, more thin nose with a tiny bit of curvature in the bridge but told me I could not achieve a small button nose with the thickness of my skin and the size of my face. We also discussed my deviated septum which he said he would fix during the procedure. I trusted him and went forward with the surgery. I was very scared while being pushed into the OR. I do not speak fluent Arabic, but all staff were accommodating in English or French. They were all helpful and did a good job keeping me calm. I woke up in a lot of pain. I called for help for what felt like a few minutes. It took the staff a few minutes to actually tend to me and give me morphine after which I felt much better. My surgery took over 3 hours to perform as the deviation in my septum was very deep (?). As such, I believe this is the reason for my swelling and bruising only 12 hours later. Updated on 12 Oct 2017: The swelling is ridiculous. I can barely open my eyes. I'm getting the packing in my nose removed today. Updated on 28 Nov 2017: Updated on 28 Nov 2017: Still having some breathing issues. ENT here said it’s still swollen inside but it’s making me uncomfortable. My tip has been swelling a lot and I want to avoid scar tissue forming. I’ve been massaging to break it down and taping every night as well as ice. I think it’s helping - it’s not as firm and hard as it was before. Going to ask my doc here about oral steroids. I’ve heard that steroid injections can leave indentations. Overall I’m super pleased with the turn out. I’m so much more confident in my looks and now go out without make up all the time now. It might not be 100% perfect, but it looks amazing and I’m so happy with it! I can’t thank Dr Medawar enough and I’m so glad I went with him! Updated on 29 Nov 2017: Here is a pic from the front. The shape of the tip changes every day but it still needs time to heal Updated on 25 Apr 2018: Most of the swelling is gone, there may be some residual tip swelling but this is basically the shape of my nose. I’m very happy with it. If I could change anything, I probably would have done an Alar base reduction (nostril reduction) as my nostrils flair when I smile and it’s ugly. However I have such thick skin that it may have looked more fake that way; everyone says it looks super natural. There is also some weird shadow on the side of my bridge due to the way the bone was shaved down (you can see in the third picture). All in all I don’t regret anything and would redo it 100%. Updated on 15 Aug 2018: So my nose is basically all healed and a few people have private messaged me for updates. As of now: -My tip is less hard. -My profile is still feminine. -No bone or cartilage regrowth. A tiny both of cartilage shrinkage in the tip occurred which is unnoticeable to anyone not massaging over their nose a hundred times a day. -Still have breathing issues, most likely allergies. -Nostrils still flare. -Still have weird shadow. Satisfaction: I am 90% happy with my nose. I would do it all over again. Tips: The recovery is crap. Please bring artificial saliva with you from your home country as it’s not available in Lebanon anywhere we looked. I suffered so bad guys... trust me on this. You’ve never had a dry mouth like this. The worst part was the inability to sleep. Dry mouth is horrible and sleeping upright is comfortable. I did not feel pain except right after the surgery. I threw up black vile (probably blood) twice that day when I went home. Dr Charbel is very good at communicating. He answered a lot of questions over WhatsApp. He also took a phone call late at night during my recovery (we thought I was having a reaction but it was just mosquito bites lol!). Dr Charbel is good at not overdoing it with the surgery but still giving you a nicer nose. He made the decision not to reduce my nostrils (alar base) because I have thick skin and it could look fake. I’m not happy with my nostrils but have to trust his decision and professional experience. He is good at balancing natural with beautiful. My nose isn’t movie star perfect but it’s perfect to me. I feel so much more confident. I feel good and I have no regrets. My only regret is not doing this sooner and having gone through university with my ugly nose lol. I’m attaching photos to this post and including more before photos as well. Feel free to message me for questions and please like and comment on this review if you found it helpful. Updated on 31 May 2019: I’ve had some messages recently. Seems Dr Charbel is getting more and More popular. I even had a hate account follow me on Instagram by someone who doesn’t like him. Here are some recent pics. Another example of my nostrils flaring. I’ve accepted it and won’t go in for another surgery but I do wish i had fixed my alar base at the time. Oh well. Maybe it would have given me a Voldemort nose look and I would have regretted it Updated on 31 May 2019: As requested my side profile. My side profile is my favourite part. So happy with it. Let me know if you have any questions! Always happy to help and speak about my rhinoplasty experience and my experience with the doctor.
I was super exited when i had found out about Dr Charbel Medawar and seen all of the rhinoplasty operations he has done, i have been researching for quite a few years now for another nose surgeon but no ones work caught my eye apart from his as I'm a very fussy person. i normally wouldn't have chosen to go for a Lebanese surgeon as they have the typically ski slope fake noses which i didn't want. On the other hand Dr Medawar's work was in the middle of natural and fake, which left his work looking pretty much perfect to me. I originally had my nose done 6 years ago in the uk but it was so "natural" that it made no difference to my old nose apart from i had swelling and scar tissue after the op that my nose remained much bigger. I have a very very bulbous tip and i went to a few surgeons in the uk and they said they won't do my nose as it may end up looking too piggy and they also claimed it was "fine" but fine wasn't good enough for me i wanted natural and super defined! So i decided to book my flights and hotel to Lebanon to do my operation whilst being in contact with Dr Charbel via whatsapp. He was very professional and answered all my questions and was very responsive so i didn't feel any doubt or worry even though i was flying on my own. The day of my operation everything flowed smoothly, i started at the admission office where payment was very simple and you just pay the full amount on the day. I had chosen to have my consultation and operation on the same day as i was only flying out to Beirut to do my operation, I was very anxious when i arrived to the hospital but after meeting Dr Charbel Medawar for the first time he made me feel at ease. In the consultation i was showing him all the pictures of girls noses that i would like mine to look like, and he advised me that each nose is different and i need to have something that suits my face. He looked at me and it was like he already knew what he wanted to do to my nose, therefore i didn't ask too many questions and i told him i would like him to make my nose whatever he thinks will look best on me as i could see he definitely know what he's doing. So I've had the operation and I'm only on day 4, I'm so exited to see the results and what makes me even more happy is that i can already see that my bulbous tip is no more :). I'm currently very swollen, have bruised eyes and have a weird smile from the swelling but thats not anything i haven't been through after my first nose job so i already know how that you can't be impatient with big operations like this and it really takes time to see results (after my first nose it took 1 year for all the swelling to go). I will keep posting pictures of the progress of my nose :) Updated on 18 Aug 2017: Updated on 23 Aug 2017: I'm only one week and my nose is still swollen but I'm loving my new shape :) Updated on 23 Oct 2017: So currently I'm 2 months post op! And it's that awful time for the swelling process you go through ! My nose from the front is massive and undefined and the shape from the side remains but it's super big! I've had a nose job before and I know how long it takes for the swelling to go down! My first took 2 years for me to completely see the complete swelling go down!!! I always say to people who have got their nose done! Wait one year before you judge ! Everybody's swelling is different !!! I will post more photos in a month or two to update you on the progress!!! I haven't put a front photo of my nose because it's so swollen it looks worst than my old nose which isn't possible ! I know it's just swelling !!
I originally had my rhinoplasty with dr charbel Medawar which I was happy with, so I thought I would go back to him for my buccal fat removal and double chin liposuction. It was really the worst experience of my life. After the doctor saying I could go back to work after 5 days, this was absolute rubbish. After the procedure I woke up looking like a monster, swollen and bruised all over my face which I couldn’t understand how from removing two areas I could be swollen everywhere on my face. I couldn’t even recognise that I was even the same person. I then found out he had transferred fat to my cheek and eyebrows without my permission. I HAD NOT ASKED FOR FAT TRANSFER! He had done this whilst I was under anaesthetic! I already had very full cheeks so this was not necessary at all. I had to extend my stay two weeks longer in Lebanon because I couldn’t leave the hotel room to catch my flight. When I got back home I waited a long time for the swelling to subside, became a recluse and didn’t leave my bed. After 6 months and the swelling did subside I was left with the worse results ever. I now have an extremely wide face with cheeks which have pulled down my eyes which has made the shape of my eyes so circular, horrible and Dopey looking . I have one eyebrow completely higher than the other and a different shape now. He’s removed part of my jawline which I now need to continually fill with juvaderm and on one cheek where he has removed my buccal fat it’s so uneven I have a lump left there. I now am spending so much money to try and correct all of these but he really is a terrible doctor with zero bedside manner. He has ruined my face and when I messaged him many times, he never replied once!
Two of my friends had just come back from having rhinoplasty from dr Medawar, I thought the results were great and the girls were happy with their results too. Seeing as two friends had had surgery with him and everything looked fine me and my best friend decided to book in with Dr charbel and fly to Lebanon for rhinoplasty. Dr charbel was very quick to reply and book us in which I thought was reassuring. Upon arriving we thought the price of the rhinoplasty was 3000$ which we were later informed had been raised to 3500$ I didn’t debate the price even though until our arrival that is what we were told the price was (and what our friends had paid) Dr charbel took pictures front and side profile and I explained what I wanted, he was in quite a rush and the consultation lasted no more than 2 minutes. Symmetry and good breathing was two of my main concerns but he assured me that I don’t need to worry as he is very experienced. Skipping to after the surgery I noticed my cast was very bent and swaying towards one side of my face, i didn’t see dr after the surgery so I asked the nurses and messaged him where I was reassured that the cast being bent will have no impact on my final result. When the cast was taken off a week later it was still bent, he then said that this is swelling and will subside. Something I also want to mention is I went to the appointment with my friend and he took out her stitches first, then without changing his gloves or the instrument he came to also remove mine.. working in the medical field this is something very unhygienic and could of gave me an infection.. I asked doctor to change his gloves and use a new instrument where he seemed a little embarrassed but did as I asked. After the surgery his replies seemed to get slower and slower. Months went by and I still wasn’t able to breath, I had dry mouth every night which can also lead to a lot of decay so high dental bills.. dr. Charbel said to just keep using saline spray and it’s because I wanted my nose smaller I would have to compromise my breathing.. I sent him pictures showing my nose was still very bent and had a bump on one side.. he told me to just keep waiting Around month 10 it was clear most of the swelling had gone and much change wasn’t going to happen. Dr charbel started to ignore my messages and also my friends who all began to have the same issues, I went onto his Instagram where I left a comment asking him to contact me because I don’t think his WhatsApp was working where I had other girls contact me from his Instagram sharing their story too.. it started to seem like charbel is great until there is a problem he doesn’t want to fix and seemed to be very sloppy with his work. I eventually was fed up and wrote dr charbel a long message and told him that we all will write a negative review about him because he is blatantly ignoring us but taking on new patients. Dr charbel finally started replying again and said I can fly back to Lebanon and have a revision with him.. I agreed and went back, on re assessment he agreed that the rhinoplasty he had done was bent and not up to scratch and said he will fix it. Dr charbel showed me before and after pictures of temple lifts and said it is something which was very popular now and the scar is in the hairline and is minimal recover for an extra 2000$ I stupidly decided to go along with it. I went through surgery again where this time I woke up and started to choke on the tube which until now is still quite traumatic as you feel as though you were going to choke to death. I went through the process of waiting 7 days for the cast to be removed where again it was bent and again he reassured me that the cast doesn’t have any impact on the final result. I went back to the clinic where the nurses took off my cast and stitches from the lift and it seemed as though the bump had gone and my nose was more symmetrical though not perfect. When the nurse was taping my nose she didn’t cut the tape but yanked it instead to rip it which Was extremely painful as it was very tender being only one week after surgery, she wasn’t very sorry and just left the room to find scissors to continue the taping process. At this point I was told I needed to pay an extra 1500$ for the overnight hospital stay. 8 months on The temple lift never healed and I’ve been left with a huge bold spot and sore area which is still oozing.. I managed to get a reply from dr charbel after 4 months where he told me it was normal and to just wait it out.. I’m on month 8 now and now a lot of the swelling is gone from my nose I can see the bump is still there and I’m very unsure of what was actually done in that revision because my breathing is still blocked and nose looks exactly the same. Dr charbel has started to completely ignore my messages now. He is incredibly charming face to face and really convinces you he cares about you but I think his actions and quality of surgery has proved itself, this has been a really horrible ordeal for me and Ive really lost my trust in surgeons but have no choice to find someone new to correct all the horrible mistakes he made and then left me in the dark. I hope this review helps someone out there as it’s the only reason I’m posting it. Ps. 2 of the girls who had surgery with him had a revision with someone else and the other is looking for a surgeon.
Hi, I underwent the liposculpture procedure by Dr Charbel Medawar in Beirut. I read reviews on RealSelf beforehand. The doctor sounded great and he is board certified, all of which encouraged me to choose him for my procedure. As I am based in the UK, we communicated on WhatsApp, and Dr Medawar asked me to send him my photos where he offered the following: So the plan for is liposculpture upper back , lower back, waist, outer thighs, inner thighs, inner knees and transfer some fat to the butt in order to lift the butt and thighs. Surgery was done on Jan. 12th, 2018 at the Hazmieh International Medical Centre (HIMC)-which offered an absolutely wonderful stay, highly qualified and professional staff. I will put my before pics now, and update slowly through recovery. I still have my post-op garment on, so will update with clothes on until my two months is up (Dr Medawar advises me to wear the garment for 6-8 weeks, without removing it t all for the first 2). I travelled back to the UK 4 days after the surgery. My measurements before surgery were: Waist 27” Hips 36” Updated on 22 Jan 2018: On Day 3 after the surgery I literally looked like one of the télétubbies :-) I was so swollen none of my clothes fit. Here are some photos post after 1 week, still swollen and I’ve taken measurements to keep track of swelling. Waist 30” Hips 41” Inner thighs 23” Updated on 24 Jan 2018: Measurements Waist 28” Hips 39” Inner thighs 22.5” I’m starting to exercise again. Nothing too vigorous, walking and weight training arms/chest/a little ab too. Sleeping and moving around is much easier now. I still feel discomfort when i lie down. I need to put pillows and cushions beneath my lower back still. Can’t bend that easily yet. Areas around buttocks and waist , hips and inner thigh, knee still feeling numb. It’s getting a bit itchy sometimes. Updated on 2 Feb 2018: My measurements are Feb. 2. 2018 Waist 27.5” Hips 38” Inner thighs 22” So, I’m still going down but it’s very slow. My nights are sleepless. There’s a lot of pain around the kidney areas. I wake up feeling my kidneys are going to explode. It feels like you’ve not gone to the bathroom to pee and it’s hurting, except that I don’t want to go to the bathroom. My inner thighs are a disappointment so far, as they are till rubbing together as I walk. I insisted that Dr Charbel remove them to form a gap so I can wear shorts and skirts. So, one more week to go o see if they will go down a bit more. I took a shower and removed plasters. Areas still numb are around my waist, painful areas bruised around my thighs and waist. Check the photos
After contacting many doctors, I felt most comfortable with Dr. Charbel because he doesn't like fake looking noses. He will work with that you have and he makes sure it suits your face! He is very professional, very hands on and genuinely cares about you. He is always there when you need him or have any questions, definitely a one on one experience. I had a consultation August 3rd as soon as I landed from Canada and we scheduled the surgery August 31. I asked many questions and he was happy to respond to all if them. He asked me what bothered me about my nose...Since I was a child I had a very boney nose. I was called a witch almost everyday! Man kids can be so cruel. I got bullied on the daily. When I grew up my nose got surrounded by fat because I gained a bunch of weight from PCOS. Even though my nose was better then when I was a kid, I still hated the bump and my bulbous tip. So I told him what bothered him and left it to him. I didn't want to be picky because that is when doctors screw up. Worried to please your style yet he knows what best suits you. Today is when I did my surgery and everything went smoothly, from the staff to the hospital (Clemenceau) itself. The anesthesiologist was very informative and reassured me that everything is going to be okay. They did end up using a hose for during the procedure because of my asthma and smoking habits. I will keep you updated when I remove the cast! So far I am not in pain. Maybe 2/10 Updated on 1 Sep 2017: Updated on 2 Sep 2017: Updated on 3 Sep 2017: Updated on 3 Sep 2017: Updated on 7 Sep 2017: Finally!! Cast is finally off! Still swollen-- can't wait to show you in 2 weeks. Dr. Charbel will definitely be missed. Updated on 7 Sep 2017: Updated on 19 Sep 2017:
usually Botox's effect is completely gone after 6 months, especially if its a brand like Allergan or dysport. However sometimes brands imported from other countries have more preservatives and can last up to 8-9 months. Nevertheless, the effect will resolve and you will have more movement. muscle hypertrophy will come back if you clinch your teeth again just like when you exercise any other muscle in the body.
Steroids after 3 years doesn't do much for your swelling. Also Swelling that much far postoperatively is rare, however some studies show residual edema especially in open structure rhinoplasty when lymphatics are cuts.
Yes I believe this Result is Pretty Much easily Achievable. a Slight rotation and support to the tip with a really gentle rasp to the dorsum
Severe Tension was put on the skin when it was sutured back together, thus you had hypertrophic scarring. This is Typical when a facelift is done without properly lifting the "Deep Plane".I would recommend for now to do steroids injections / laser treatments and not venture with haste into another surgery
I would recommend waiting till the swelling is completely gone before you do any surgical intervention.Pics of your nose before the Surgery Would also be helpful
