It is possible to remove a black tattoo with a q-switched laser. Pico technology breaks down the ink into smaller particles therefore fewer treatments may be necessary but q-switched is also very effective. The end point of a removal oftentime is based on your satisfaction of how it looks. Some areas may be completely gone, other areas may have a smudged or foggy appearance. Every tattoo is different as each ink is unique. It is not possible to guarantee 100% clearance, but most people are quite satisfied with the endpoint even with a q-switched laser.
