My Ptosis developed gradually and worsened over the last 10 years. I wore RGP lenses for 20+ years which can weaken the levator muscle in the eye creating ptosis and after a short stint of Latisse, I noticed peri orbital fat loss which made my eyes look even worse. Dr Burkat has monitored my case and peripheral vision for approximately 6 years and when insurance approved the procedure, I booked surgery ASAP. Dr Burkat is a perfectionist and checked multiple times during surgery that each eye was in balance and modified the stitches on the inner and outer side of the muscle were even. She then verified that both lids were balanced with each other. Prior to going into the OR I shared a photo of myself from 10 years ago and she matched it perfectly! I finally look on the outside the way I feel on the inside. We only did ptosis - no bleph and the extra skin fills my hollows. I am so thrilled to have this surgery performed by Dr Burkat and highly recommend her!
I had wanted to do this procedure for a while now but was afraid because it was my face and also because you are awake for the procedure. It was painless!! So happy with results. I highly recommend this procedure. Updated on 6 Jan 2021: This is before and a few weeks after. Super happy. She is an amazing surgeon, completely painless surgery. Wish I did it 10 years ago! The office staff was great as well. I felt totally comfortable. She is also very good at botox. I do not get a heavy eyebrow. Highly recommend her and her practice. Updated on 12 Mar 2021: One of the best things I have done for me....I feel like I look younger and more awake. Highly recommend Dr. Burkat! It was a painless procedure. I was so worried with needles in my eyelid but it was seriously painless!
After having a couple of successful forehead Botox treatments, I decided to take the plunge and try Juvederm in my nasolabial folds. I have to admit, after reading the reviews I was a bit scared that I was going to have some awful bruising (I bruise super easy), pain or just look funny. I really trusted my doctor though so I decided to go for it. She recommended that I start taking Arnica the day before to prevent/minimize bruising which I did. When I arrived the doctor applied a numbing cream around my mouth and let it sit for maybe 10 - 15 minutes. Then she cleaned the area and did the injections to each side from next to my nose down to the sides of my mouth, maybe about 6 or so on each side. To my extreme surprise I could not feel a thing! That cream works magic. Another nice surprise is that I am 3 days out now and do not have even a hint of a bruise, nothing! Not sure if it was the Arnica, her technique or pure luck, maybe a combo. The areas look great, the treatment took years off and does not look strange at all. Very glad I did it and can't wait to see how things look over time.
I had a fantastic botox experience with Dr. Burkat. She asked me the areas I wanted evaluated and gave me some great advisement on what would work best for me. Very thorough, professional, kind and candid. I decided to try botox on my forehead (15 units) and so glad I did. Minimal discomfort, the slight swelling at injection sites went away in minutes. The botox took about 5 days or so to set in. Worked beautifully, forehead lines and furrow between the brows lessened significantly. Lasted 3-4 months, just went for my second visit. She said the first time usually lasts the shorest, then the effects last longer after subsequent injections. Can't wait to see!
This sounds like an unfortunate side effect of Botox injections that may occur when the injections are too aggressive, or placed too close to the eyelid or eyebrow area. Rubbing the areas injected shortly after the procedure may also lead to this appearance. The full effect will typically be seen by 6-10 days. If the swelling worsens or does not improve gradually over the next weeks, you may wish to follow up with your physician. Placing injections higher up in the forehead may avoid this complication in the future. Good luck!
