Dr. Bernardino performed a standard Blepharoplasty on both eyes with excellent results. The upper lid margin was raised appropriately for my age and the arches on both eyes were both balanced and attractive. His professionalism and bedside manner was exemplary; everything was explained and all questions answered. I felt both safe and secure in his care.
I had a great experience. Very professional, responsive to all my questions and concerns. I was nervous about the procedure, Dr Bernardino was reassuring and helped me feel at ease. I had upper eyelid surgery. My results were great, his technique made my lids look natural and not over corrected. Very satisfied.
I had a very positive experience. He was diligent, competent, and respectful of my needs. he is very professional with an excellent patient interface. I had an eyelid lift on both eyes and I'm very satisfied.
Rob performed a blepharoplasty on both of my eyes to restore deteriorated upper half plane vision in each one. The results have markedly improved my peripheral vision and the healing process was relatively quick and effortless due to effective pre-operative preparation and post-operative followthrough by him. Rob is an exceptionally thorough, efficient and detail oriented surgeon. As a physician, he is highly patient centric, focused on making an accurate diagnosis and communicating his diagnosis, his recommended procedure, a step by step explanation of what he intends to do, what his patient should expect as a result, any risks and/ or side effects involved and any other options the patient might consider, all in terms at whatever level he feels confident his patient easily can understand. Rob is very approachable and invites whatever questions or concerns his patient may have. I have no hesitation in recommending Rob to others, including my own primary care provider.
I was curious about Botox, what improvement it could do for my appearance but was afraid to try it. I was happy with the result. I looked natural still after the injections. Only notice a subtle difference like I was more relaxed and well rested but still able to make facial expressions. I would do it again if I had not gotten pregnant. I plan to go back soon for another round.
He didn't get it done correctly the first time so had to go back for a re-do. No anesthesiologist this time. I suspect since he was having to pay for the re-do instead of Medicare, he didn't want to pay for one. Consequently the procedure was uncomfortable.
Horrible experience for me. In a lot of pain after surgery on both eyes, and nothing from the doctor. Borderline if not patient neglect. Also unkind and lack of both skills and bedside manner. Looks horrible after multiple repeat surgeries. Don't give him a second chance. Go somewhere else.
He spends little time with you and does not take time to answer your questions. I felt as if I was not important as he ran from room to room to see his other patients. He spent less than 2 minutes with me for each visit. Prior to surgery it is the same thing, when I had a concern he discounted me and his anesthesiologist did the same thing. He was very rude to myself and my family.
Many people have asymmetric eyebrows. In many cases this may be do to underlying drooping or ptosis of your eyelids which you are subconsciously accommodating. Although Botox may fix the eyebrow problem I would make sure you don't have underlying ptosis. You may find that your eyelids drop after eyebrow botox leaving a less than desired result. If ptosis is present, ptosis repair of the lids often reverses the eye brow asymmetry.
There are many options to repair missing tissue of the eyelid. Without photos, it is difficult to advise. However, reconstruction should be tailored to first allow the eyelid to close properly, second to allow it to open for visual function, and finally for cosmesis. A surgeon addressing your defect has to determine what level of the eyelid is missing and then how to replace it. I would recommend consulting with an ophthalmologist or preferably an oculoplastic surgeon to best address your eyelid reconstruction.
Ptosis can recur after surgery that seems to have an initial excellent result. There can be a lot of factors. In your case, did you recently have a corneal transplant? Any ocular surgery can change the eyelid height, mainly due to inflammation and swelling associated with the eye surgery. Much of these changes will resolve with time.
Surgeons have different techniques for closing wounds to minimize scar. Some like steri strips over wounds. I personally do not like them on the eyelid, since the eyelid is a dynamic structure and the 'stiff' strips can be uncomfortable as you have noticed. I would consult with your surgeon as to whether ointment is perfered over the steri strips. In my experience it is not a problem.
Thank you for posting your photos. Preoperative photos may be of additional help. Given you history of no eyelid crease before surgery, you probably had pre-existing ptosis or drooping of the left upper eyelid. Double eyelid crease surgery will not change that, and therefore after surgery you still have ptosis of both upper eyelids, the left worse than the right. Since your surgery was four months ago, it would be reasonable to have an initial evaluation with an oculoplastic surgeon. The surgeon can review pre and post-operative photos and watch how you heal over the next three months. If you are in Oakland, CA, you are welcome to have an evaluation with me in Monterey.
