MOHS Surgery Experience

On 12/15/16 I had MOHS surgery to remove squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Carina Rizzo performed the surgery and sent me to Plastic Surgeon Antonio Uria to repair the ear with a skin graft. Both doctors were incredible and have great bedside manner which made a terrifying experience do much easier. I suffer from severe anxiety and panick attacks so having 2 physicians that I was comfortable with was extremely important. The MOHS procedure was very quick. An injection to numb the area, waited for 10 minutes minutes to numb and removal took less than 10 minutes. Waited about an hour for lab results and did need a 2nd removal. It was a very easy procedure just time consuming. Once confirmed I was cancer free I went to plastic surgeon to get the skin graft. I was awake for this procedure as well that took about an hour. Recovery the first week was painful but nothing I couldn't handle. Bandages and stitches came out a week later and I am recovering beautifully
