I had an eyelids surgery wit Dr. Sires. Dr. Sires and his team are wonderful. They made me feel relax, friendly and caring. The Procedure and the recovery was easy due to the staff being so informative. I am happy of my result and happy that I meet Dr. Sires and his staff.
Many people know that Dr. Guy Massry is the top oculoplastic surgeon in the country, specializing in revision surgery for eyelid surgeries that have poor outcomes. So I called his office in Beverly Hills and asked for Seattle plastic surgeons he held in high esteem. Dr. Bryan Sires was one of two people his office recommended. While being evaluated for LASIK surgery at Sharpe Vision in Bellevue, the optometrist noticed ptosis and other issues with my right eyelid, and recommended I see an oculoplastic surgeon, and said to look into having medical insurance cover the cost. She made three recommendations and one was Allure Laser Center in Kirkland, where Dr. LauKaitis and Dr. Sires perform procedures. With two recommendations, I decided to meet him. Dr. Sires also has a medical office in Seattle which is where I met him. This is a more standard medical clinic with none of the flare of a medispa. I received a thorough medical exam to determine the impact of the ptosis on my vision, and thus, the consultation was covered by insurance. (The impact was not sufficient for the surgery to be covered, however.)Dr Sires approached the issue seriously and effectively, perhaps a bit like a mechanic or architect looking to correct and improve a physical structure. He had the aura of a medical surgeon more than a cosmetic one - perhaps because we were in the medical office and not his MediSpa location, or because he has a strong background in reconstructive as well as cosmetic surgery. He was conservative as well, saying if it was only my right eyelid that bothered me, leave the left one alone, and he'd correct the ptosis and hooded heaviness of the right one. This appealed to me - keep the eye I like and match the other one! I asked if he would do fat pad transposition for the lower lids. He said rather than move the fat pads down over the visible orbital rim, he'd prefer to lift up the SOOF pad. This idea greatly appealed to me, as my mid face has fallen with age and was stretching the sag of the lower lids. I scheduled the procedure -- right upper bleph with ptosis repair and bilateral lower bleph with SOOF lift - which required a 20% deposit. I had a pre-op discussion with the nurse three weeks prior to surgery. She was great. She reviewed my health history and gave me pre-op and post-op instructions verbally even though they had mailed me a packet of the same information -- I appreciate it when medical staff repeats things, as there's so many reasons for us to forget or not understand when we're excited and nervous. Dr Sires performs the surgery at his office in Kirkland with IV sedation. The nurse explained that I must come with a ride, and that person must stay in the waiting from for the entire procedure, and that the procedure would take place with me wearing the clothes I came in with -- so they must be clean with easy access to my arms and legs. She had a fantastic sense of humor as well. They faxed a request to my primary care doctor for his approval that my health was good enough for the procedure, and called in a prescription for antibiotic eye ointment. The next week, I had an interruption to my schedule that offset the entire month, so I had to cancel the surgery date. I had an option to reschedule, but the interruption inspired me to think this over one more time, especially how I wanted to handle the upper lids. They refunded my deposit, as per their policy of refunds if a cancellation is made with adequate notice, which I very much appreciated. My lack of follow-through with the surgery was entirely due to my own indecisiveness and scheduling trouble around work responsibilities, and I am 100% grateful to Dr. Sires and his nurse and scheduler for their service and understanding. With recommendations from one of the top LASIK offices and Dr. Guy Massry himself, and my extremely positive experience meeting him and communicating with his staff, I highly recommend people in the Seattle area considering eyelid surgery to give him a call
I am very grateful to Dr. Si He ansered all my many questions, was very patient, and has a good sense of humor. I have had 2 surgical procedures done by him and I am thrilled with the results! He has an artistic sense that really compliments his surgical skills. The office staff and the Dr assistants have been great. I particularly appreciate Susan! She know her stuff and was always available for questions. Along with Dr. Sires, she really calmed my fears before and after surgery. I recommend Dr. Sires and his staff very highly!
During an upper eyelid lift or blepharoplasty the excess skin of the upper eyelid along with removal of fat pockets can be removed. This can result in the eyelids feeling less heavy and less tiresome to keep held open. Some patients may also be experiencing ptosis, which is a condition in which there is muscle involvement resulting in the improper positioning of the upper eyelid or drooping. It is important that you have a trained physician evaluate your upper eyelids to determine if ptosis repair along with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty is required in order to achieve your desired look.
Bruising and swelling varies greatly between patients and is difficult to predict. There are camouflage techniques available for both men and women that can be started immediately if there are no external incisions and after two weeks if you do require external incisions during your surgical procedure. For the best surgical outcomes, it is our recommendation that you refrain from heavy aerobic and lifting exercises for 2 weeks following surgery. However, light walking can be done approximately 48 hours following the surgical procedure. Refraining from heavy lifting and exercising reduces the blood pressure which can also lead to a reduction in bruising. Many of our patients also take over the counter arnica as a natural supplement to aid in the healing and bruising process.
We have not yet found a cure for the aging process that continues to march on. A good rule of thumb is that surgical results last about a decade. The longevity of surgical results greatly depends on how you take care of yourself. As we age the elastin and collagen in our skin tends to decline resulting in thinner, weaker skin that can cause drooping and bags in the skin. The skin around the eyes is very thin, fragile and reactive. All forms of smoking, excessive drinking and sun exposure can greatly speed up this aging process. The other strong contributing factor is genetics, which we can thank our parents for but in reality we have no control over. Additionally, frequent rubbing of the eyelids causes this skin to break down can also be a further contributor to future eyelid bags. Avoid the above mentioned scenarios and remember to always were a hat or visor when out in the sun along with a good sun block to prevent from sun damage. These steps will aid in the ultimate in surgical longevity results.
