QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Invisalign vs. traditional braces for Anterior Open Bite? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Most of the orthodontic colleagues I work with would recommend traditional braces and some sort of temporary implants to serve as anchors for the upper back teeth to aid in moving them up. This is one of the hardest orthodontic movements to accomplish and I don't see Invisalign being capable of doing this.  Looking at your case it appears this is what is needed to close your bite and have an esthetic smile in the end.

How long would braces or Invisalign braces take to fix just a snaggle tooth? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Straightening a tooth like yours would definately take less time. In my office treatment like yours would take about 9 months. However it requires the movement of multiple teeth because you have insufficient space for the "snaggle" tooth so more room needs to be created. A normal fee for something like this is about $2000.

My dental crown shifts at night when I sleep, in the morning its sensitive until it finds it's proper position. Is this normal?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Sounds like your bite on the bridge is off. You should have it checked because this can create trauma to the ligament that holds the tooth in the bone. It can also lead to bone loss around the tooth.

I'm 34 and wondering if I should get Braces or Porcelain Veneers? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
In your case braces are definitely the way to go. Because your lower cuspids are forward, it would be difficult to get a good result with veneers. Also as you said, veneers don't last forever and depending on your age would need to be replaced at 10-15 year intervals.
As for whitening the best approach I have found is in office followed by at home trays. In our office we automatically make the trays at the time of the in office and don't charge for them. Seems to work out quite well for patients.

54 yo female, nearing the end of 3rd set of aligners, when a previously unknown cracked back molar caused an abscess. (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Because the root canal treatment is done totally within the tooth roots, this should not affect your aligner use. Once the abscess symptoms settle down, which should be less than a wee, you can jump right in where you left off.

Should I get teeth implants instead of braces?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Without seeing photos or doing a clinical exam it is not possible to really give you a good answer. However, 24 years old is not too old for braces. I have done braces on patients in their 70's. Also the thumb sucking put orthodontic like forces on your teeth and it sounds like braces are needed to move them back into their proper positions.
I would definitely avoid implants in a case like yours and believe me, I do a lot of implants.

I don't want Braces, what other options are there to fix my overcrowded teeth? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Invisalign might be an option. Your eye teeth are too high so veneers would not really effectively correct you problem.

Does Invisalign works with crooked teeth? Based on my photos am I a candidate?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Judging from your photos of only the front teeth it looks like most of your crowding is in the front. In a case like this Invisalign should work.

How long does a dental implant take to heal?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
I actually have had an implant myself. Usually you are back to normal activities the next day or two. The process of integration takes about 4 months before the permanent crown can be made.
