Hi! Thanks for your question: If you have to wear elastics for your case refinement it is because the relationship between your upper and lower teeth needs some correction. And in any case, whether you are on Invisalign treatment or braces, the elastics are used to get a better bite. And definitely Acceledent will help you to speed up your treatment in general, combined with the elastics. So in other words, adding Acceledent to your treatment will not only shorten the time for you to wear the elastics, but also you can change your aligners (trays) more often, instead of every 2 weeks maybe every 9 days. It does not mean that because you are using Acceledent you can wear your elastics only for 1 week during that specific tray that you used to wear for 2 weeks. If you need to wear elastics, it's because your bite requires it, and usually they should be worn all the time; constant and controlled forces need to be applied to your teeth when it comes to an elastics wear to correct the bite. Same case with the aligners, they need to be worn between 20-22 hours every day in order to make your teeth straight and aligned. At some point your orthodontist might ask you to wear the elastics less hours during the day (maybe 12 hours or only at night) if you are doing a really good job wearing your elastics as prescribed initially! I hope you do well with your case refinement! Dr. Brian H. Miller
