Yes, fillers are commonly used in the chin for augmentation and to improve symmetry. If you get chin dimpling when smiling, botox/dysport (neuromodulators) can also be used to prevent this and to give you a smooth symmetrical chin. Hi,

This is a common question from patients after Mohs surgery and is completely normal. Before closure, I discuss with patients that the suture line will often be longer than you anticipate because the Mohs defect needs to be elongated in the shape of an ellipse to prevent puckering of the edges. This will give you the best cosmetic outcome. 


And I'm glad you realized smoking will only make scarring worse. Stopping or decreasing the amount you smoke will only help healing process and decrease the risk of scarring. Hope this helps!

Hi,

Mohs surgery provides you with the highest cure rate and lowest recurrence rate, all while sparing healthy tissue. This is important in cosmetically sensitive areas, such as the eyelids. Eyelids can be delicate areas for reconstruction and the reconstructive options depend on the size of the defect after Mohs surgery. Mohs surgeons often work closely with facial plastics and oculoplastic surgeons for closure.


Be sure to discuss this with your Mohs surgeon beforehand, because most fellowship trained Mohs surgeons perform complex closures, including eyelids. If  not, he can also refer you to a specific plastic surgeon that specializes in Mohs closures, because not all do. Being informed will only help you in the decision process. Good luck!

Large defects in the temple area after Mohs surgery often require skin flaps for repair to avoid pulling/pushing on the eyebrows and eyelids. But even after flap repair, there can be some mild pushing down on the eyebrow/eyelid. Acutely this can be due to normal post-operative swelling and can take months to normalize, therefore you should continue to follow up with your surgeon as it's too early to tell. If after close follow-up it's still present, your surgeon could do a simple revision to lift it back up. Also, you should be evaluated for damage to a nerve that courses across the temple area which helps to pull up on the eyebrow. When this is damaged during skin cancer removal, it can cause a droopy eyebrow/eyelid. It's hard to say without a photo of the area. Red spots can be caused by a number of things on the face. Post-inflammatory erythema (redness) after trauma such as a puncture can happen. Often times, redness is a sign of increased blood vessels in the area. This redness is can easily be treated with a vascular laser (pulsed dye laser - Vbeam). But you should first have an in person consultation by a board certified dermatologist who can better evaluate the area and determine the best way to treat it. Hope this helps, good luck!
