What can I do for parotid duct when Dr refuses to see me for his surgery screw up? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
I am sorry to hear about your experience. At this point I recommend seeing a board certified head and neck surgeon or facial plastic surgeon who have extensive experience with the parotid and nasal structures. At my practice, I work along side world-renowned facial nerve expert, Dr Babak Azizzadeh. If you still have not resolved your issues, please contact our office for a consultation so we can help.

I recently had rhinoplasty/septoplasty. Can Alar Rim Grafts Be Removed?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Yes the grafts are removable, and would essentially be done through an open rhinoplasty technique. However, these always seem unusual at first, and are hard to get used to.  I would advise you to not remove it now and wait at least 6 to 8 months before making a decision, because the nostril will look much better over this period of time.

Recently I have started getting sick a lot, like I used to before the surgery. Can trimmed turbinates grow back?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

It is possible to have the remanent turbinates grow larger again to the point of obstructing the nose.  This usually happens in the setting of worsening nasal allergies.  My first advice would be to see your ENT to further asses and treat this.

Incisions Fell Apart and Deviated Septum After Septo-Rhinoplasty

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

If the incision don't heal properly after surgery, then it will lead to scarring. If there are areas that have not yet healed then they may have to be treated to allow healing first and then a revision can be done if needed.  Having said all this, any problem in the nose can be repaired or recosntructed.  A thorough exam of the nose and sinuses is needed to asses "the gashes" and the possible polyps.

Will a Rhinoplasty Inevitably Need a Revision Down the Road?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

The revision rate for rhinoplasty is generally low and dependent on the surgeons expertise and the extent of surgery at the original rhinoplasty.  Although the nose cartilage continues to grow our entire life, it does so at a different rate for everyone.  Unlike breast surgery and reconstruction, the main force that affects a post rhinplasty nose is scarring under the surface, as opposed to gravity and changes in the skin with aging in the case of breast reconstruction.  In the hands of expert rhinoplasty surgeon, collapse of the nose or disfigurement is not going to be an issue.  In a majority of people who have undergone rhinoplasty minor changes can be seen over a 10 year period, but it is rare that these slight changes will require revision surgery.

I Have Exposed Septum Cartlidge After Polyp Surgery a Year Ago. Is Any Exposed Cartlidge Normal in the Nose?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

No, but usually it heals and covers itself up.  So if you still have exposed cartilage there must be another problem going on inside of the nose to prevent it from healing, so you should have a visit with a board-certified ENT.

Corrective Surgery and Rhinoplasty for my Broken Sinus Cavity?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

You need to be sure you can see where the fracture is first.  It sounds like the fracture is in the drainage pathway for it to be causing sinus infections.  Therefore you should have a CT scan of the sinuses to make sure the opening to the sinus isn't also fractured or closed, because if it is a plastic surgeon cannot fix this you need a board-certified ENT.

MRSA After Sinus Surgery. Am I More Prone to Infection in Future?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Yes, you are more prone to infection in the future as MRSA has a tendency to stay in the nostril.  The treatment is to use an antibiotic ointment called bactroban in the nostril for 6 weeks to ensure that the infection really is completely gone.

Breathing Problem- Surgery Has Made It Worse

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

If you have had 2 surgeries already you really need to see someone whose expertise is JUST nasal breathing (ie a ear, nose throat doctor) as opposed to a plastic surgeon because you may have a more complex issue than just a septum deviation.  For example I have seen a narrowing of the boney structure or the back part of the nose, or potentially even polyps.

Does a Premaxillary Implant Change the Appearance of the Nose?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

It can change the appearance if your nose is small, or not projected.  If the implant is too big it can give the snout like appearence.  There will be a lot of swelling but with the appropriate implant there will be no widening.
