Reconstruction Surgery for me was the best decision that I have made. To be able to put on a dress and a t-shirt and look like a normal women. I am 1 year post-op and now in Sep. 2012 I will get my areolas and nipples done. Updated on 19 Aug 2012: I was diagnosed with breast cancer on 11/10. I was told by two separate doctors that they recommended that I get a double mastectomy. I had 3 areas on my right breast that was positive for cancer, my cancer was estrogen positive. Dr. Dominick Filardi was the surgeon that did the double mastectomy and Dr. Antonio Uria was the PS that did the reconstruction surgery. On 1/11 I had the double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, my plastic surgeon placed expanders and the next 6 months before my chemo treatments I went to get between 60 to 100 cc on each breast to expand to a total 750 cc on each breast. I had the expanders replaced on 08/11 with silicone implants. I love my implants I feel like me again. On Feb. 2012 I had my areolas and nipples reconstructed and they look good, really really good. This Oct. 2012 My PS will tattoo my areolas to darken them and shade them. I will keep you updated it. I’m good so Far really good. God bless and will keep you updated.Updated on 23 Dec 2012:On 12/19/12 - I had my areolas and nipple's tattooed. I have to tell you after my PS did them they were very very pink (used flesh #7). He did say they would get lighter and they have. I'm happy with them, he did a nice job. My PS said to come back around 3/13, he will do one more round shadding. My experience has benn a positive one with my PS. Everything that he has done I love. Will keep you updated. Happy Holidays.
