I had this procedure in January 2023. I am 63 years old. I did my research well but was lucky to find the perfect surgeon for me only 30 minutes away. Anthony Macquillan not only is an experienced plastic surgeon and a nerve specialist but is also a wonderful person to have contact with. He is so kind and considerate, he takes his time explaining everything and at all points during our visits right up to the day itself he said I could change my mind at any time if I wanted to! which I thought was remarkable. He is incredibly honest, and tells you all the worst things that could happen, which is scary but at least you can make an informed choice. And I would've got my money back! He has a great team and in particular his anaesthetist Daniel is superb and also put me so at ease. Recovering from a deep plane face and neck lift is not the simple thing that sometimes people make it out to be. Anthony doesn't use drains. He uses a netting that is sewn under the surface of your skin and when your face swells ,boy, do you know it! If you work too soon, it will swell up again, even though the netting is removed quite quickly. Even now nearly a year on, I still have some pulling and tightening under my chin, where the nerves are still knitting together -this is not a quick process. However, the results are almost instantaneous! Once you see that swelling going down, you can see the difference he's made. It's also very interesting to know that only 10 people know I had this procedure and of the ones that didn't even though they've been sitting right next to me, had no idea. People just say oh you look great or have you had a good rest. Admittedly I wasn't horrendous before, but I didn't like the fact that my once sharp jawline has deteriorated. I didn't have any fat transferred into my cheeks, but I did have some under my eyes which worked well and I managed to retain about 80% of it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Anthony. He is superb so much so that he's giving me another operation on Saturday. This time on my tummy! I have every faith in him and his techniques The reason i only have partial pics is because I want to keep this to myself as much as possible:)
I had a deep plane face lift with fat augmentation to lose my facial and deep mandible “ misery” lines .The result has been more than I hoped for and a tremendous boost to my morale. Thank goodness I chose Anthony MacQuillan, who is not only a top class surgeon but also the most lovely and kindest man. I think that most patients are a little apprehensive at the first consultation but Anthony was so easy to talk with and I never felt rushed or unclear about anything. The operation went smoothly with no pain and the aftercare has been brilliant. ( extra thanks to Michelle who was so supportive and reassuring) Superb surgeon and amazing result.
After having 2 children by c-section over 10 years ago I had been left with a overhang. Over the years I have lost weight and the overhang has got considerably worse to the point it could be seen through my clothing. This made me very conscious, I’m a person who always wanted to look my best so would therefore look after myself and exercise to try to get rid of the overhang. Whatever I did it would not go. Over the years it started to get to me, eventually I made the decision to have a tummy tuck. I done lots of research to find the right surgeon for me. Upon my initial consultation with Mr MacQuillan he immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease, he wS very understanding about my overhang and took on board all of my issues. He advised that no amount of exercise would solve my overhang problem. He thoroughly explained the operation, pros and cons, and possibilities of complications. At no point did I feel pressurised. After a second consultation with Mr MacQuillan and pre surgery clinic with specialist nurse Michelle I set the date for 13th December 2021. Day of surgery arrived felt very nervous, got seen by Anthony and his anethetist who made me feel a bit at ease. Post surgery I stayed in for 2 nights, the nurses that looked after me were wonderful, could not do enough for me. The first week was uncomfortable but not too painful, was expecting it to be a lot worse after reading a lot of reviews online, maybe I was lucky. Went back to work after 3 weeks and was also driving. Have seen Anthony several times now since surgery where he ha said everything is as expected and looking great. I am now 4 months post surgery back to running and exercising regularly, slight numbness it was told to expect that for up to a year. This operation has totally changed by life, I no longer feel the need to worry that my overhang can been seen through my clothes. I have since been on holiday wear I wore a bikini without feeling self conscious and happily walked along the beach without covering up. Anthony is a very special person, kind, genuine, authentic, and personable. Would definitely recommend anyone thinking of having a tummy tuck to go for it, but do your research to find a surgeon you feel comfortable with and has a good background and reputation. Also need to mention Amanda, Anthony’s medical secretary who each time I spoke with on the phone was very patient and easy to talk to. Also Michelle the specialist nurse who I saw on several occasions was lovely and attentive.
I had a deep plane facelift, neck lift and fat taken from my stomach and put into my face to give it volume again. Anthony and his assistant Lucy were amazing and really kept me calm during and after the procedure. Thank you so much, I are delighted with what you have done.
Paid: £9,535 After researching abdominoplasty for 11 years since having my first child I finally decided that this was the right time to take the plunge. I’d finished having children and was at a stable body weight that I was happy with, other than my saggy apron belly. I chose Anthony Macquillan because his chosen specialty was nerve trauma. This told me that he would take extra care. I wasn’t wrong. From the initial call to his secretary Amanda, to meeting Anthony and his nurse Michelle I felt at ease, all my questions were answered fully and I was excited to proceed with the surgery. I had a full abdominoplasty with diastasis recti repair. I am now 8 weeks post op and my results are fantastic. Anthony is a magician. I look like I did in my teens. I’m thrilled with my results. I can’t recommend Anthony and his team enough! I have already given his details to all of my friends.
Wow I cannot recommend Anthony enough. I have a very complex medical history previously. He made me feel so calm, at ease and more importantly he was honest and true with me from the moment I had my first consultation. I had my surgery back in May 2021. I had a fleur de lis and a mons pubic lift. He has been on hand for any minor mishaps.Nothing has been a problem. I am having further surgery with him again this year in November. He did such an amazing job of my stomach and scar. I never expected my stomach to even look as good as it came out. He is so thoughtful and really listens. The staff at the hospital in Bath were all so caring and kind too. They attended to me constantly. I was treated like a equal and not like you are on the NHS as an inconvenience. I recommend Anthony and his team now to everyone who asks me who did my surgery. I also share my story with others when I talk about my journey with cancer and bariatric surgery right up to plastic surgery. I always end it with the story of the man who restored my confidence and gave me my life back, Anthony MacQuillan. A 5 star surgeon and kind soul xx
Fantastic service again provided by Lucy at Only You. Her professional, caring approach to calming my nerves over my dislike of needles was exemplary. Would highly recommend this service, am sure I’ll benefit from the fabulous results like last time. Thank you.
Mr MacQuillan has completely transformed my quality of life, not just a superb surgeon but a really lovely person who takes time to explain things and listens to your wishes. My care has been superb throughout, I chose to have breast reduction surgery because I was in constant pain, my spine was becoming curved and I had constant headaches. My breasts were reduced from an HH cup to a D cup and I have had no pain at all since surgery and my mobility and quality of life has greatly improved. I think that one of the things that has surprised me most is the fantastic aftercare and not just from Anthony but from his nurse Lucy who has just been outstanding. I am so pleased with the results and I can completely recommend Anthony MacQuillan.
I am now 6 weeks out from a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast lift and have found this site so helpful, I wanted to share my journey. I know some people have recovered quickly but that has not been my experience.I am 59 years old, I have 3 children the last one at 40 years old, I had also lost quite a bit of weight. For the 2 days I was in hospital I was comfortable. When I came home I was in a lot of pain and bent in half and I did not stand up straight for 4 weeks. I slept for the first week in a recliner chair (you can get from a garden centre). I used a hot water bottle on my back which ached from being bent over.I purchased from a disability shop a pee pot (as it was so painful to move) and a triangular pillow and after a week I was able to sleep in bed propped up with this pillow and 2 others and a pillow under my knees. I took pain medication and anti-sickness tablets every day.I was ok as long as I did not sneeze, cough, laugh or move and did not do much for the first 2 weeks. My breast pain was more than the tummy at first and one breast swelled more than the other. You get shooting pains in both the breast and the tummy as you heal and the tummy feels very tight. My tummy button smelled and my consultant changed the dressing a couple of times until it had dried out.At 6 weeks, I suddenly overnight no longer need the painkillers. I have today taken off my binder from my waist and all the tape from my scars. I have a small hole under my right breast which is taking time to heal and this is still being dressed and I think this can be quite common. I have today started to massage the oil into my scars morning and evening.I found the 6 weeks with the waist binder very comfortable and quite reassuring. I had the surgeons tape on my breasts for 2 weeks and I have had the surgery bra on for 6 weeks and have to keep on 24/7 for another 6 weeks, although I now change into a softer sports bra at night. The constant wearing of the bra makes you itchy, I washed the bras so I had a clean bra on every day and every night, and used baby wipes and moisturizer and that made me more comfortable. My surgeon did a bilateral breast lift and full tummy tuck including tightening my stomach muscles which were 2-3cms apart. It is still a bit uncomfortable to sleep on my side all night but I can while alternating with sleeping on my back.I am very pleased with the results so far and I know I still have swelling. I would just say everyone is different, take it easy and give yourself time. Updated on 18 Feb 2021: I m 9 weeks out and I can do everything I want to do. Driving, working, walking. My scars are healing really well, I am very pleased with my tummy and my breasts are an amazing shape. I have had fantastic after care from Mr McQuillan he really is a very nice guy. He even saw me on 27th December in the evening when I was worried about my breast swelling (which was fine). He has made it clear I can contact him at any time if I am worried. Mr McQuillan’s secretary Amanda has responded straight away to my emails and his cosmetic nurse Michelle has responded to my emails by calling me and seeing me straight away for dressings and any concerns. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Updated on 18 May 2021: I am now 5 months from my tummy tuck and breast lift. I recently went back to my surgeon to have a dogear removed from my left breast. I believe this is quite common, a small piece of puckered skin. I also had a revision on my tummy button as this had closed up quite tight and I am still stretching this every day. Both procedures were done under local anaesthetic. I am using organic rosehip oil on my scars every day and they are much flatter and healing well. The aftercare from Mr Anthony McQuillan and his team has been fantastic,. Since my operation on 12th December, I have seen him at every follow up appointment, any concerns I have had have been responded to very quickly nd I have been given n appointment.
Where do I start, Anthony was recommended to me by a patient of his, she couldn't say enough wonderful things about his personal manner and all the before and after care. For my self, the first time I met him I was put at ease, very relaxing surroundings. The whole journey from start to finish was so smooth, I healed perfectly I am still over the moon even after more than 2 yrs post op. Still having follow up appointments even though I'm fine, it's great incase there's any questions. I have so much more confidence now, it'll always be the best decision I've ever made.
Hi,firstly it looks like given a bit more time you are going to get a great result! The lumpmay well be a collection of blood (a haematoma) in which case it should resolve over the next 4 weeks or so and you can speed this up with some gentle massage. As you say there is a buckle in your garment directly over the area it could be related to this and be the result of tissue oedema (which again will resolve given time and will be helped by massage). At 8 days following surgery it is still very early and I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it is still there in 5 weeks I would go and see your surgeon. I hope this helpswarmest regardsAnthony
