Hylauronic acid (HA) fillers are most commonly used to restore volume in the mid face (upper cheeks), smile lines (nasolabial folds), lips, and chin area. I prefer Sculptra in the lower face/lower cheek region and temples since it gives a more natural result through stimulating our own body to make collagen. HA in the lower face when placed incorrectly may appear lumpy or form nodules. Sculptra on the other hand, is a great option for overall volume restoration. Sculptra results tend to peak at 6-9 months, so patients have to be willing to wait and not have the immediate effect of HA fillers.
