There are lots of fillers for lips on the market - the most popular ones we use at Newport Aesthetics are Juvederm Ultra XC, Juvederm Volbella and Belotero; Restalyne Silk is available but not carried by our medical spa. These are available in the USA and in other countries it does vary as names sometimes change for the same product. Check with your local physicians. None of these fillers I mentioned are collagen based. They are HYALURONIC ACID based. For the most subtle results, Juvederm Volbella is the one. For the most plump lips, we could argue that it depends on how much you inject with Juvederm Ultra XC, Belotero or Restalyne Silk - all 3 could plump to your plumpest desires! We have never seen an allergic reaction to fillers however complications can occur (knock on wood - none so far at Newport Aesthetics) if you are in the hands of an unseasoned injector and they put it into a blood vessel --> this is a medical emergency! Make sure your injector is equipped with Hyaluronidase - a reversing agent for the products I mentioned above - and they know how to use it (along with a protocol for reversing Hyaluronic Acid oopses)!! MOST INJECTORS do not know how to handle this.
Juvederm Ultra XC Injectable Gel and Juvederm Ultra Plus XC Injectable Gel are both commonly referred to as "Juvederm" in the US these days. Juvederm Voluma XC is commonly referred to as "Voluma". Juvederm is indicated for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). However only the Juvederm Ultra XC product line is indicated for the perioral and lip injections. This is slightly softer product vs the harder particle Juvederm Ultra Plus XC product. The XC line contains Lidocaine to reduce the discomfort of these injections.Voluma is indicated for deep (subcutaneous and/or supraperiosteal - just above bone) injections for cheek augmentation to correct age-related volume loss in the mid-face.
