After spending countless hours lifting my folds in the mirror, I am so happy I finally made the decision to just get them filled. I feel so fortunate to have found Dr.Weatherall, she is a true expert in her field with an artistic eye, and a gentle touch. Having had a few cosmetic procedures in the past, I have to say this one gave me instant gratifiaction. I just love it! I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Weatherall, where she thoroughly explained the options for filling my sadly deflated face. She took her time to explain what fillers would work best and was in expert in her placement. I had no pain, no swelling, and the results were visible instantly. I cant believe I waited so long to do this.
It's been a little less than a month but I am quite pleased with the results. My doctor saved 1/2 of the second vial for me to come back two weeks later to tweak the procedure.I did the nasal labial folds/marionette lines. Used two vials. Doctor mixed lidocaine into the radiesse and injected it together. Very little pain. Minimal bruising and swelling for 4-5 days. Make sure you go to a doctor who uses this product often.I wanted to look 10 years younger and I am told I do. I am 56 and people take me for 45. Radiesse is thick so can only be used for deep thick creases. I am happy so far. I used a cosmetic dermatologist. Updated on 12 May 2009: I went for the touch up three weeks ago....I added some photos. I am thrilled with the final outcome. If it stays like this for a year or close to it I will be thrilled. I repeat make sure your doctor (and only doctor) has lots of experience in this product, since it is a difficult one to manipulate. If you would like the name of my doctor email me privately.
It is recommended that you first receive botox or dysport to treat the frown lines between the eyebrows (known as the glabella region) as these are dynamic or movement wrinkles. If these lines are too deep for the botox or dysport to improve them alone, then I can follow up, once the botox takes complete effect, a few weeks later with a small amount of juvederm or another hyaluronic acid filler (restylane) to further improve the wrinkles. However, injector technique is important in this area as there is a superficial artery that runs below the frown lines that must be avoided or complications can occur. As for as how much is used, that is individualized to the patient with regards to how strong their muscle movement is, how deep the lines are, etc.
Most practitioners, including myself, will recommend that Botox or Dysport be performed first to treat the frown lines between the eyebrows (known as the glabella area), as these are dynamic or movement wrinkles. Once the movement of this area has been treated, then restylane or another hyaluronic acid filler (juvederm) can be used to fill in any remaining wrinkle that is still there. In regards to the safety of filler in this area, injector technique is very important as there is a superficial artery that lies below the frown lines and it must be avoided or complications can occur such as bleeding, bruising, or rarely necrosis of the skin. Thus, you should only have it done by someone who has experience in treating this area with filler.
