Immediately after your IPL procedure the treated areas may feel sunburned: some redness with mild tenderness. This feeling should go away within the first 24 hours-48 hours. Over the next couple of days some scabbing and blistering may appear on the treated areas. In addition, these treated areas may become darker and rough in texture. It is important to not pick at the roughness and avoid hot water and prolonged sun exposure.  Eventually the skin blemishes will fade to a lighter appearance than before the treatment. Make sure your surgeon gives you a detailed instructions about the normal symptoms you will experience and any potential signs of complications. It is important to realize that the amount of time it takes for recovery varies greatly among individuals.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approves the use for Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe lateral canthal lines, known as crows feet. It is also approved for the temporary improvement of glabellar frown lines (lines in between your eyebrows) and forehead lines. 
Nevertheless, an experienced injector understands the anatomy of the face and the mechanism of action of the product: thus allowing for the off label treatment of many more areas on the face! Examples of uses include: treatment of bunny lines (transversal lines around the nasal bone), correction of a gummy / gingival smile, smokers lines around the mouth, dimpling of the chin, and marionette lines that turn down the corners of the mouth. IPL treatments can help brown spots and discoloration. It is important to note the more brown you have the longer the recovery time. Initially after treatment the area is itchy, red and swollen for a couple of days. Then the brown pigment will rise to the surface of the skin, and feel dry and crusty, and then peel off. If this picture is from only one day post treatment, give it about 2 weeks to heal. Set up an appointment with your physician in 2 weeks to discuss your results.

Typically Botox injections can last from 3-4 months. Not surprisingly, your body’s particular characteristics have an impact on the question of how long Botox lasts.

To understand this variable you must first understand how Botox works. Botox functions by blocking the signals from your nerves to your muscles. With no signal, the muscles relax, in turn causing your wrinkles to soften. Given this, first time users may find Botox last less time as these "virgin" muscles are at their strongest. In addition individuals with strong facial muscles may find the effects of Botox wearing off quicker and also needing a larger dose. 

However, there is good news! I find that consistently using Botox makes each application work better with time. This is because the wrinkle-causing muscle gets weaker with each repeated use, allowing the impact of the injections to last longer.
