Isotretinoin (Accutane) does not affect fertility. It is a teratogen- meaning that if you get pregnant while taking Accutane it will cause you baby to have birth defects. Isotretinoin (Accutane) has a half life of 10–20 hours. That means that half of the medication is out of your system in 20 hours. Isotretinoin is completely cleared from the body within 1 month after the drug is stopped. So if you wait 1 month after stopping the medication, it will no longer be in your system.
