Finally got my prescription for accutane yesterday. I have been dealing with acne since I was 12. It started out with a clear face but would get one big cyst on my chin at a time gradually it would get worse with two to three on my chin. When I was about 15 it started to spread to my forehead. For some reason during my junior year my skin cleared up then everything came back during my senior year. After graduating from high school it spread to my entire face. I got pregnant at 19 and my face cleared immediately. But about a year after giving birth everything came back. I then got the birth control that's put in under the skin in my arm and all hell broke loose I've tried everything to clear my skin for about a year including antibiotics and creams to homemade natural concoctions. It's so good to finally be done with the process and have my prescriptions. It's my second day so obviously so side effects yet. I have already been putting tons of chap stick on though because my lips are very prone to be chapped in the first place. Will check back in with the next monthly visit! Updated on 24 Jul 2014: Today is day 16 on accutane and I have managed to keep my face from peeling by using aveenos moisture relief lotion. Except for today I started to notice some peeling even with it so I'll increase the amount I apply. The first 15 days I only needed to put such a small amount so I'm sure upping the amount will help. Lips are very dry but manageable. Scalp is itchy like crazy. I stopped washing my hair every other day and decided to wash it once it gets dirty so I waited a few days but the dryness was driving me crazy so I washed today with a moisturizing shampoo. Much better will update later
