Hi, I'm Dr. Alan J. Bauman, M.D., a full-time board-certified hair restoration physician. Since 1997, I've treated over 34,000 hair loss patients and performed more than 12,000 hair transplant surgeries. We help people by effectively treating their hair loss.
Dr. Bauman was the utmost professional and all around down to earth person I have worked with in a while. I’m also a physician and can tell right away who has it together and trust me there are a lot out there that do not. He possesses all the qualities of a top notch elite physician should have. The team and crew are a joy to work with and keep you comfortable and smiling throughout the whole procedure which for me took 2days. It was painless with only a slight discomfort from the local anesthetic then it was smooth sailing. Facilities were immaculate. You get what you pay for and so far it has seemed well worth it. I will keep entering follow ups as the growth continues.
I am too lazy to write a whole review, so I will just copy and paste an email I wrote to Trina Arce, his nurse practitioner, and him. I gotta say, you and Dr.Bauman saved me. I'm so glad I found you guys. The minoxidil, 82F, viviscal, nutrafol and the Propecia is really starting to kick in. Originally I was worried that I was going to a Norwood 3 but I can say confidently now that when I comb my hair back now I have a strong widows peak that looks like a solid NW2, and I have you guys to thank for that. Alot of dermatologists simply do not know the in's and out's of hair loss. When I visited a doctor back in June, and he prescribed me generic 5mg fin I had terrible side affects. And when I mean terrible, I mean my testicles were in constant pain, I couldn't sleep, my libido was suppressed and urinating felt different. When I told him about these side affects, he said that I was sadly apart of the 2%. I was a little surprised because I never had any issues with other medications. I was also pretty sad because I knew if my hair follicles were this sensitive to DHT at such a young age, I needed to get on either finasteride or dutasteride (although the latter may have been an overkill) and my gut instinct, and from what I read, Rogaine was simply not gonna cut it. If I listened to my last dermatologist who just said Rogaine and Ketakonazole would do the job, I think I would have been on my way to the NW3. So anyway, THANK YOU! I never knew there was such a big difference in side affects with brand names and generics. Holy [RS bleep], its such a relief to think to myself that I will have hair throughout college. One of my biggest fears was where my hairline was gonna end up by the time I would graduate college, but I can breathe easy knowing at the very least I have gotten some regrowth back and I'll be able to maintain this. Also, another exciting thing is that I am really starting to enter the period with Propecia and 82F of just improvements, and its crazy to think the improvements I have seen. I don't lose hair anymore when I am in the shower. I can run my hand through my hair and literally no hair will fall out. I am looking forward to the next couple of months . There are still miniaturized hairs that I would be interested in getting back, but again I am so grateful I found you guys and I am so happy with the progress I have already seen.
Love Dr. Bauman, the staff, the admin team, everyone! Each step of the process was easy and Bauman really is a master of his craft. Would recommend ANYONE considering a hair transplant to Dr. Bauman!
In March I went to visit Dr. Bauman in Boca Raton, FL to get PRP with Stem Cell injections. The Dr and the staff were all extremely nice and friendly. The building is beautiful and state of the art. They washed my hair, took hair check measurements and then numbed my scalp and gave me injections for 10-20 minutes. The whole procedure was really painless and the best PRP experience I have ever had. Dr. Bauman is super knowledgeable. The treatment hasn't worked quite as good as I had hoped but it was still a good experience.
It was an amazing experience. The talent of the doctor is second to none, and the medical personnel were equally skilled and unbelievably great people. They made the surgery goes very well and showed her uniquely wonderful sensitivity to patient needs and overall patient satisfaction
When I started this process, I had no idea what the results would be or what to expect. As most people, I was hesitant and nervous about any form of cosmetic surgery. Dr. Bauman and his excellent staff made me feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process. Dr. Bauman explains in very honest detail what one can expect from the various procedures offered and more importantly, the results are exactly what he states they will be; he doesn’t promise on anything he doesn’t deliver. To say I’m happy with the results would be an understatement. To see where I was in terms of hair growth when I started this journey to now is nothing short of astounding and has had a profound impact on my happiness and quality of life.
As a hairdresser I consider myself to be very picky when it comes to the outcome of a hair transplant. I started losing my hair in my early twenties and for me this was not an aesthetic option. This is when I began my journey with Dr Bauman. I have achieved natural results which have always gone undetected unless I have chosen to share the information. I can always count on his establishment to have the most friendly and gracious staff as well as the most cutting edge up to date technology. No other doctor compares.
I went to Dr Bauman at Bauman Medical Center after hearing rave reviews for his high-tech methods of hair restoration. The office staff was incredibly helpful and never made me feel uncomfortable (an easy thing to do when it comes to a man facing hair loss), they were very professional, took measurements, photos, and then I had a consultation with Dr Bauman. I never felt rushed or talked into anything, just truly cared for as a patient and as a human being. It turned out that I while I could have elected surgery, I decided to try the medical approach first and am pleased to report that I have now completely reversed my hair loss.
Very friendly and genuine. The service and professionalism Dr. Bauman and his staff provide is second to none. They treat you like family from the first consultation to years after your surgery. They are in the business to create confidence and make you feel great about yourself not a paycheck.
I just had a 1500 graft procedure done @ Baumann Medical. I came here because they are 'the best' according to some of the staff members, mainly Melanie who I liked. I feel Dr. Baumann comes across as professorial, though I am not sold on the methods of hair preservation. I would prefer to attend some of Dr. Baumann's conferences to hear a consensus as to what works, and at the best price! Dr. Baumann, I would be happy for an invite! During my procedure: I came in the morning around 7:30am. Dr. Baumann draws a line where the grafts will be inserted and a line from which they will be extracted (through FUE). He makes the incisions the technicians will be inserting the grafts. The extraction procedure is done entirely by 'technicians.' Felipe was great and conversational. Some of the other technicians say little or nothing (not a great bedside manner, I expect more from the best). During the insertion of the grafts a women on my right was laughing hysterically and very loud during the playing of 'Coming to America' movie. So loud and shaking over and over again that I asked if she was okay!? - Not professional at all...it made me question whether she was high or drunk. The doctor became offended and dismissed my claims a couple weeks later. He initially (Bauman) stated that he had a video of every procedure and he would review it, but later backtracked and said it likely no longer existed anymore (2 weeks later). I encouraged him to watch the video to see what I was talking about! I have had hair procedures before (FUT) 12 years ago in a small city, and this doc and his staff was MUCH more professional and he performed the entire surgery! When I came in the next day after the surgery, Christina was trying to explain to me how to care for the donor site and grafts but some of the other staff (Briana and a friend) were talking and laughing so loud, we were both distracted and could not concentrate! Briana blamed Christina for not talking loud enough. What a disaster. When I cam for my 2 week checkup, my chart was lost for a half hour and I had to text Bauman in Italy to get staff to come to the front desk to check me in. Again, a total disaster, what I am paying for? From my understanding, and I have done my research, Bauman is a trend follower. He follows trends in treatment before they have had anything but minimum preliminary support in research. One example is PRP (platlet-rich plasma) therapy. There is very little medical evidence to support PRP works and much anecdotal evidence (check the bald truth forums) and academic articles against the procedure (Cindy Gasnier, 2015). Being a alternative doctor is 90% self-promotion, 10% actual skill and professional courtesy to be successful. See Dr. Bauman for evidence. Also some of the techs that work for him belong at a discount clinic, not a clinic that charges $10 per FUE graft. On the actual procedure, I am hopeful but skeptical for good results. FYI, Dr. Bauman is supposed to extract the grafts from my understanding (as a doctor of medicine). Future patients, make sure he does this. He did not do this with me...
We normally recommend exosome therapy as a stand-alone hair growth treatment. However, many of our previous patients who have had good results with our 7.5cc 1.5M platelet/microliter PRP+ECM protocol are requesting to have both procedures (PRP+Exosomes) performed together to try to achieve an even stronger improvement in hair growth, hopefully improving their HMI Hair Mass Index above their previous plateau. We have also had similar requests for PRP+PDOgro (threads) in combination with Exosomes. There aren't a huge amount of patients who have done these combinations in our practice yet, so we do not have enough data to predict the improvements the average patient will likely see. Hopefully, more physicians will be studying these combinations and reporting their results. Sincerely, Alan J Bauman MD - Bauman Medical Hair Transplant & Hair Loss Treatment Center - Boca Raton, FL
The product Formula 82D is a prescription topical dutasteride with minoxidil, tretinoin, and fluocinolone for hair growth. Often hair loss patients ask us “where can I buy topical finasteride” and they are interested to learn that Formula 82D topical dutasteride+minox is available with a prescription and can be delivered directly and the whole process can be started with an online virtual consultation at my practice. Some basic topical dutasteride info is at baumanmedical-dot-com. For many years, we’ve used dutasteride orally as a stronger 5AR inhibitor for those looking for something stronger than finasteride. We have seen excellent hair growth results with topical finasteride Formula 82F, as previously discussed, for those who want to avoid the small risk of side effects that can occur from oral treatments. For hair loss patients looking for a stronger 5AR inhibitor, especially one that blocks type-I 5AR, which is in found the scalp, I often recommend trying topical dutasteride. Just because "any" doctor can perform PRP doesn't mean that they should. Most PRP Hair Growth providers today, sadly, are not ABHRS (American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery) certified and have little experience in diagnosing and treating hair loss, have never taken a single certification course specifically for the Medical Management of Hair Loss, don't know how to determine if you are a good candidate for PRP, and unfortunately even far fewer are measuring or tracking hair growth or hair loss scientifically. Many hair loss patients come to Bauman Medical after having a 'failed' or exceptionally painful PRP elsewhere and they are looking for a more sophisticated and stronger PRP treatment that is virtually painless. The use of ECM extracellular matrix like ACell or BioD in our practice in thousands of treatments since 2008 has been shown to prolong and strengthen the effects of the proper application of PRP (we presented this data in ISHRS Bahamas in 2012). PRP+ECM can provide 10-20 months of "boost" to the treated area before a repeat treatment is needed. Science shows that without the addition of ECM you are likely to need a treatment nearly every month to maintain improvements and once you stop the treatment for more than a month or two, your hair will return to what it once was. Yes, PRP+ECM is typically more expensive, but you will need less treatments over the year and see a stronger response from it. Non-chemical, all natural ECMs like ACell (porcine bladder) and BioD (human placenta-derived) are for tissue regeneration and repair and have been used safely in 100,000's of procedures in orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, dermatology, cosmetic surgery and many more specialties to help people heal faster from wounds while decreasing the production of scars. While every case is different and there is always some risk with any procedure, we have NEVER, EVER seen a side effect from the use of micronized ACell or BioD in thousands of PRP treatments since 2008. The fastest and least invasive method of measuring hair growth in the clinic is with the HairCheck device. This scientific cross-sectional bundle measurement allows us to accurately measure several areas in EXACTLY the same spot over time without a tattoo or shave. It has been shown that patients with the greatest success with treatment have HairCheck measurements 2-4x per year. Seek out an expert who is experienced in PRP and other forms of hair restoration to help you determine if you are a candidate and what areas you would expect to see improvement. Be prepared to get a second opinion, "virtually" if you need to via skype/facetime, before you waste valuable time and resources. Sincerely, Alan J Bauman, MD, ABHRS - Medical Director - Bauman Medical
After seeing the success of finasteride (Propecia) in stopping the progression of male pattern hair loss as well as regrowing / strengthening miniaturized hair follicles, many patients ask "is topical finasteride a viable hair growth treatment?" Many seek topical finasteride because of reports that it may have a lower risk of side effects than the oral version. Patients also ask "Where can I get Compounded Topical Finasteride?" For some time now, patients at Bauman Medical have been able to use "Finoxidil:" topical finasteride and topical minoxidil, compounded in a powerful, yet "palatable" combination using the "Formula 82" (HairScience, LLC) proprietary quick-dry, non-greasy, low-residue vehicle that yields maximum penetration along with a synergy of ingredients. When patients ask for the science and research behind topical finasteride and large studies proving results, we know that while oral finasteride is FDA-approved for hair regrowth for more than two decades with many studies, but alas the topical version is not FDA approved and may never be. Patients ask "will topical finasteride reduce my risk of side effects?" Research shows that there is less of a finasteride "load" in the bloodstream with topical application directly to the scalp, which may explain why there are fewer reported side effects with topical finasteride (Caserini 2014) and yet good efficacy for hair regrowth (Chandrashekar, 2015; Sheikh, 2015) for those looking to enhance, reduce or replace their oral finasteride (Hajheydari, 2009). Individual results vary of course, which is why we suggest routine follow-ups and scientific tracking measurements with HairCheck device. In addition to the 82M Compounded Topical Minoxidil+RetinA, 82F Compounded Topical Finasteride + Minoxidil+RetinA, Compounded Topical Dutasteride is also available after an in-person or virtual consultation at Bauman Medical which includes an informed consent process which reviews the known risks and benefits of AntiAndrogen 5-AR 5-alpha-reductase blockers.
Latisse or Revitalash will only work if the follicles are still alive. If the follicles are "dead and gone" from accidents/trauma, surgery, scars, styes, or eyelash extension damage, you may be a candidate for eyelash transplants. What is an eyelash transplant? The eyelash implant procedure provides a comfortable, permanent restoration of living and growing hair follicles to the eyelid where the eyelash gap exists. Eyelash transplantation is a common procedure I have performed at Bauman Medical for over 15 yrs and my proven techniques are detailed in the top textbooks on Hair Transplantation. Eyelash implants take several hours to perform, but there is little activity restriction during the cosmetic healing phase which takes about a week. The main "downside" is that you will have to trim the eyelashes, grooming them to the desired length because the implanted follicles come from the back of the scalp.
