I would not even rate this doctor one star. I wish I never walked into his office but I hope my review will help others to avoid this dermatologist. I saw Dr. Dobrescu 2 yrs ago to get a few moles removed. From the minute he entered the room he was quite unprofessional. He came in while on his cell phone speaking all loudly to someone as if he were shoveling bets at a race track on a Friday night. He seriously lacks bedside manners. While there I was asked to get completely undressed for a full body exam which was also abrupt and uncomfortable. He removed three moles including one tiny flat flesh colored one over my mouth that was barely noticeable. I wanted it removed by having it shaved off for cosmetic reasons. Since it was on my face , I explained to him that I was extremely concerned about scarring and that I didn't care if it grew back (as moles can). I just wanted it shaved to the skin as I had years before by an amazing local dermatologist. I furthered that the mole was not even noticeable so I'd live with it over a scar any day. He obviously did not listen to me or respect my concerns because I was left with a deep pitted scar with uneven ridges, that is actually bigger in size than the small mole removed. It looks like a huge chicken pox mark and it has made me so self conscious and depressed. It has been two years and it has barely changed. I did everything I was supposed to do and kept it covered in Vaniply Ointment and let the scab fall off. Since than I have seen two different dermatologists and they were surprised the area had such a deep indention. One of them commented "jeez did he dig it out?" The 2nd derm questioned as to why he just didn't shave to the level of surrounding skin to reduce any scarring. I went back to see him about it and asked why did he cut so far below the skin and if in fact he actually shaved it off because it looked as if he performed an excision. He haughtily replied with "I don't know how you heal!" Didn't even explain or answer what procedure he performed, I guess as the patient I'm just supposed to guess. He than said that he could cut the scar out it and stitch me up. I told him no way and that I only would let a Plastic surgeon cut me. He got so angry at my comment like a child and practically stormed out. To make matters worse not only was I left with that scar but have some on my chest area since he just decided to remove some red spots with out telling me with liquid Nitrogen. The third tiny mole, which looked more like a freckle, that he removed left a little scar too. Only that mole came back from the biopsy as mildly atypical, the other two including the one on my face were normal. However the way he and his office handled giving me my biopsy results, was completely strange and not within normal protocol. His office called me with the results and said that I needed to have about an inch of skin around that area for that mole removed and that it would be an outpatient procedure. They kept trying to push me to make schedule the procedure as soon as possible without even explaining the results and options thoroughly. They just kept pushing the procedure. I finally demanded an appointment to discuss the biopsy result before proceeding with any type of unnecessary cutting out an area of skin around an inch wide around the area. I was given an appointment at the Lakeview office to speak with Dr. Dobrescu, however I was seen by his PA and told that he was out of town. The PA was ready to perform the procedure right than and there but I told her that was not happening. It was all done so unprofessionally and without explanation or consideration to me as the patient. Sadly I am stuck with an ugly scar and have been spending money on lasers, microneedling, silicone scar pads, scar creams to make it less noticeable. I wish I would have left it alone or had gone to the previous dermatologist I saw 9 years ago, Terrible, terrible experience. Do yourself a favor and avoid this doctor. Updated on 1 Oct 2019: You can see how it was indeed small, flat and flesh colored. It was barely noticeable prior to the resulting scar left by Dr. Dobrescu. I've seen people with much larger moles removed with way less scarring and jagged edges left behind. As stated previously I had it shaved off by the wonderful Dr. Patricia Farris, who did a fantastic job. Yes it came back but having to repeat that type of shave removal was a million times better than the scar I now have.
