Dr. Adam G. Tattelbaum, MD is a board-certified plastic surgeon based in Rockville, Maryland. He’s been in practice for over 25 years and specializes in mommy makeovers, breast enhancements, and tummy tucks at his Maryland plastic surgery center. Dr. Tattelbaum grew up in the home of an artisan, and these early experiences are what eventually drew him to aesthetic surgery. “My mother was a jeweler, sculptor and creative force in my life. I always knew that I too would work with my hands aesthetically as a career. The tools I used in her workshop are surprisingly similar to the same tools I use today, only the medium is far more complex,” he explains. “I love seeing the results of my surgeries. There is an immediate gratification even on the operating room table in plastic surgery. Mainly, I love making patients look and feel normal again.” Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Tattelbaum obtained his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. There, he received honors in his plastic surgical rotation. After, Dr. Tattelbaum completed three residencies: a surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, a plastic surgery residency at Georgetown University, and a second plastic surgery residency at Harvard University. He is board-certified by both the American Board of Surgery (General) and American Board of Plastic Surgery. In addition to his private practice, he is also a member of the clinical faculty at Georgetown and an attending physician at many regional hospitals. When asked what sets his practices in McLean, Virginia and Rockville, Maryland apart from others, Dr. Tattelbaum points to his passion for teaching. “I try to distill 25 years of experience into concepts that my patients can easily understand. I love to see the lightbulbs go off in my patients' heads as they better understand what they are considering.” He takes the time to ensure that his patients understand the details of the procedure. “One might think that all the details are frightening, but I find the opposite. The more my patients understand, the more gratifying their experience becomes.” He also underscores what a personal decision it is to choose a surgeon. “It's about the right fit for both the patient and the doctor.” Because of this, he tries to create a relaxed atmosphere, with no high-pressure sales tactics. “My practice is not filled with fanfare. There are no closers or sales people. My consultations are educational and realistic. My simple goal is that patients learn the important details so that they can make informed decisions.” Dr. Tattelbaum says, “I treat each of my patients as I would treat a member of my own family and only make the kind of recommendations to them that I would make to someone dear to me. I believe that it is just as important to point out when patients do not need a particular procedure as when they do.” Dr. Tattelbaum has received membership into the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). He's also been the recipient of numerous awards, including being recognized as one of the Top Plastic Surgeons by Washingtonian magazine and one of America’s Top Surgeons by Consumer Research Council of America.

I visited several different practices prior to my procedure, Dr.Tattelbaum was the one and only one that took the time to do the consultation and made me feel immediately comfortable. He gave me facts, what to expect and not to expect, did not oversell and listen to exactly what I wanted. Day of the procedure, again very reassuring as I was nervous. All the staff was super nice an excited for me! A little over a month and a half in, I LOVE MY RESULTS! My scars are tiny and every visit I get instructions of what is next, what to expect. Its been an overall amazing experience!
BEST SURGEON IN THE INDUSTRY! I cannot be more satisfied with my results!! If you’re deciding to get breast augmentation you should go to Dr Adam Tattlebaum! I had been thinking about doing breast augmentation a while before I went to Dr tattlebaum and I am so happy I was referred to him. I had no idea what size I wanted, the difference in moderate and high profile, the different in cc’s, incision, preparation or recovery. I came to Dr tattlebaum just wanting my boobs done and I was in the best hands. Dr tattlebaum explained everything starting from the very beginning and helped me decide on a size based on my frame and profile. I ended up going with 325 cc moderate plus and I am so happy I did. I was a little afraid they’d be too small but they are absolutely perfect. I get compliments from both guys and girls saying it’s the best work they have ever seen! I knew absolutely nothing when I first saw Dr Tattlebaum and I believe it was 6-8 months after my initial consultation I decided to actually go through with the procedure. After I decided to go through with the procedure I had a few appointments leading up to the surgery. These appointments we confirmed the size and went through the entire process, surgery, post op care etc. Dr Tattlebaum had given me pre op and post op papers that I could never be more grateful for. The papers outlined what was needed in preparation for the surgery and some common questions and concerns for before and after the surgery. Before my surgery I made sure to have a comfortable space to recover in since you can’t sleep on your back you have to be more upright. I also made sure to pick up my medications before hand, pain medicine, muscle relaxer and I believe antibiotics. I was very nervous before my surgery since it had been a long time of deciding whether to do it and I knew it was going to be life changing. The informational sheets Dr tattlebaum provided honestly were life saving. One of the post op sheets was more medical so making sure to drink lots of fluids, walking every 2-3 hours after surgery, avoiding lifting pushing, a fiber supplement for constipation after surgery. I ended up needing to I believe do an enema because I was constipated from the medications but would have never known if he did not prepare me with these things! What I found to be most helpful and comforting was the sheet that was titled “these are things everyone that everybody is nervous about after surgery that I tell you now so you are not nervous after surgery” without this sheet I don’t think I could have gotten through the recovery. The biggest thing I remember after surgery was the “oh my god what have I done?” Feeling, and this is completely normal! I remember thinking I ruined my body and they were too big but this went away after a day or two for me! It is the first bullet point on the sheet and I want to tell you if it happens it does pass! I had never doubted my decision before getting them done but after the surgery this feeling can occur and is totally normal and passes. The sheet has so many helpful things such as the bra and how the bandages are supposed wrap yourself back up after showering etc. Another very important note was to make sure you stay on top of your pain medication! I had my mom administer the medicine and I was pretty much painless! I had a very comfortable experience thanks to Dr tattlebaum and my mom of course! The day of the surgery I arrived with my mother who was there to drop me off. I did not eat or drink anything and was honestly very nervous. The staff at the surgery center were more than welcoming with great energy. I signed all the forms and then headed into the back room where I would change into a gown and get my Ivys. I have never been good with needles and thankfully the nurse was very patient with me, I got light headed like I usually do when I have any sort of blood taken stuff of that nature and she fanned me down and put my feet up until I felt better. She had had her boobs done as well and let me know to listen to Dr tattlebaum instructions about the compression band and massages so that they settle perfectly. Dr Tattlebaum came into the room where he explained to me again the procedure and after instructions. He then drew on my body the surgical lines and then I believe I also met the anesthesiologist and she let me know what she was going to do as well. It was then time to go to the surgery room which was very cold but I was put to sleep almost immediately and woke up with boobs! While I was waiting for my mom they gave me water and crackers. One thing I really liked about tattlebaum and will say is honestly why he should be your doctor is how much he cared. He is a genuine human being that is not in it just to make money, he made sure I had the right size and was also comfortable with everything. Tattlebaum made sure to see me a week after my surgery to check how I was doing and to take a look at them. I believe I saw Dr tattlebaum every week for about a month and then about 3 weeks, then a couple months etc. I really did appreciate how important it was for him to see his patients after the surgery. I have met countless girls who have gotten their boobs done and never sometimes never see their doctors afterwards. Tattlebaum let me know each visit the next steps, when I could stop wearing my surgical bra. When I could stop wearing my band to push my boobs down and how to massage them / make sure they settle correctly. One of my best friends said she had never been told to massage her implants after surgery or anything of that nature and hates how far apart her boobs are. This part of the recovery is very important to make sure they are symmetrical and settle perfectly. I now have great symmetrical boobs and no scars! I did buy some silicone scar tape from Amazon which I think helped! I am so grateful I was able to have the most incredible breast augmentation experience with the best surgeon ever! If you had a choice definitely go with Adam Tattlebaum, you won’t regret it! :)
Dr. Tattlebaum is a personable doctor. He listened to what I wanted and he answered my questions and explained everything thoroughly. He followed up after my surgery and continued to provide care months later. I recommend him highly.
Dr. Tattlebaum is wonderful! I’m so glad he was my surgeon… he’s kind, thorough, and I felt genuinely cared for throughout every step of the process. He also made sure my husband understood every step so I was well cared for. He answered all of our questions and concerns in a patient, calm manner.I can’t recommend him enough!
I can't recommend Dr. Tattelbaum enough! I began my plastic surgeon research about a year before I had planned to get the surgery. The reviews on realself were so helpful and what led me to schedule my 3 consultations with different surgeons. The procedures I was interested in (tummy tuck with internal muscle repair & lipo for post baby body) seemed to be Dr. T's bread and butter based on my research. During the initial consultation he was very insisted on thoroughly educating me on the procedure and what was involved. He wasn't the least bit sales pitchy, like some others I consulted with. I also really valued his transparency and honesty. He NEVER over promised or provided unrealistic expectations. He is also just very kind and patient. I was really impressed that he himself called my husband the first few nights I was home post-surgery to check on me. Pei, his assistant is also very nice, helpful, and responsive. Truly, their team made this entire experience amazing for me. I am beyond thrilled I decided to do this and definitely made the right choice with Dr. Tattelbaum!
Excellence, that is the best way to describe Dr. Tattelbaum and his team. I went to various consults but knew I wanted Dr. Tattelbaum to be my PS as soon as I finished my consult. He is the most direct, straightforward and realistic doctor I have ever encountered, while also being caring. I left that initial consult knowing exactly what the plan would be, what to prepare for and what to expect. He gave me realistic expectations of the process and the results. I had a breast lift, breast augmentation, FDL ans tummy tuck. It is very early, I’m almost 3 weeks post op and I am already loving the results. Thanks to the doctor’s extensive information and preparation I knew what to expect and when. He is an expert in his field and does Impeccable work. His post op care is also incredible. I have honestly had a great experience before and post op. Dr. Tattelbaum has created an environment where you feel safe, heard and cared for at all times. He presented me with all the risks, answered all my extensice questions and provided me with more information, guidance ans care than I could have ever hoped for. His entire team is the definition of excellence. The make coordination and communication seamless, they are very responsive and kind. The day of surgery, which is normally an anxiety filled day was actually a very positive experience for me. His OR nurse and nurse anesthetist were so positive, kind and caring that I felt safe and cared for, walking into the OR withe the utmost confidence in the team. They are all amazing. Personally recovery was much much better than I could ever hope for (highly recommend exparel). I cannot recommend Dr. Tattelbaum enough. I am a post bariatric patient, which not every PS works and requires certain knowledge/skills, and De. Tattelbaum understood all the complexities, Explaines them to me and made sure i understood and was aware of the possible outcomes. I could not be happier. Super thankful to Dr. Tattelbaum and his team.
Although I'm technically still early on in the process, I feel as if this review is long overdue. My breasts were a source of significant insecurity for me since I was old enough to realize that they were abnormal, and likely would remain that way unless I pursued surgery. About a year and a half ago, I started researching and learned about constricted/tuberous breast deformity. Finally, I found a term for what I had been dealing with! I continued researching the condition and procedures to treat it, and began booking consultations with surgeons with experience treating it. Although there are many talented plastic surgeons in the DC metro area, I instantly felt the most comfortable with Dr. Tattelbaum. I also found his website to be a wealth of information, which helped me to feel more prepared going into the consult. He recognized my condition right away, and recommended an augmentation to round out the shape, as well as a mastopexy to correct the nipple position and shape. I didn't want a very large increase in size, which Dr. Tattelbaum agreed with, and helped me to find an implant size that suited my body the best. Throughout the process, Dr. Tattelbaum gave me realistic expectations of the results I could expect, and potential hurdles I could run into. I really appreciated his honesty, and I booked the surgery shortly after that. The surgery itself was a breeze, and recovery was far easier than I expected, with painkillers only needed for two days. Dr. Tattelbaum called me the day after surgery to check on me, which is just another example of his excellent bedside manner. At my follow-up appointments, he has been informative about my healing process, and has continued to keep me apprised about what to expect as the process continues. At only two months post-op, I'm already thrilled with how much better my breasts look, and I feel so much more confident. I sought this procedure because I wanted to finally look normal, and Dr. Tattelbaum has exceeded that goal far and away. I only wish I had done this sooner! I also have to shout out Pei and Eve for all of their help along the way. They have been wonderful to work with! I can't recommend Dr. Tattelbaum and his team highly enough.
Dear Dr. Tattlebaum: As you already know this was my second procedure under your care. You may have been able to detect sheer joy at my first post op visit. I am more than ecstatic with my results. Not just my results though. I feel so cared for, understood and listened to. Your warmth and kindness enveloped me with a soothing blanket of comfort. You may or may not realize the impact or influence this type of care has...So personal, professional and so kind...This was a key factor in my over-all experience with you, your staff and the procedure itself. You gave me such a feeling of empowerment, confidence and strength. I believe that both times my very speedy recoverys were due to your belief and encouragement of me through this process. Your truthfulness and genuine demeanor of sincerity meant the world to me. You were in the OR when I came in, preparing and reading my chart. You observed the way I was being cared for, and you oversaw my comfort. And...I had to chuckle when the surgery team told me that there would be no talking or music during my procedure. Why? Because you make it crystal clear that I am the most important person in that room. WOW! To be so valued and prioritized was an incredible feeling. You spoke with me before surgery (anesthesia)and remembered our prior discussions. You reminded me that you had received and read all my previous operative notes. You treated me with such dignity, respect and you reassured me. I don't know where this amazing depth comes from, but you exude it easily and it clings to me. It is obviously so natural to you, and is a God given talent and calling. When you treat me, I always feel like it's more than a medical procedure to address a concern. I have felt that you treat me as a whole person, caring for mind, body and spirit. At our first post op visit I was nervous and couldn't get into my sports bra. You came to the rescue so respectfully and ensured I was wrapped in gentle compression. No judgement, no rush. You took the time. When you treated me five years ago for a tummy tuck on my second or third post op visit, my son had just passed away. You were the first professional I met with after that. Even before seeing my internist. Although we did not discuss the event your calm, caring words gave me alot of strength during that difficult time. Even though we weren't really certain what we could accomplish or attain with this procedure, you exceeded my expectations by a million miles. Thank you a thousand times, with my utmost respect and gratitude for teaming with me and for providing such incredible care. My thankfulness always. You are an amazing surgeon and human. Always, E.B.
I had an absolute amazing experience with Dr Tattelbaum. From the breast aug consult to the follow up appointments he was nothing short of amazing. He listened to my concerns and also my wants and do not wants. He recommended the perfect size for my frame and I am so glad I trusted his judgment, I am beyond happy with my results and I would 1000% recommend him to anyone!!
Dr. Tattelbaum is the best! He treats his patients with the utmost respect and genuinely cares. My results were amazing and I would recommend him to anyone. He explains everything so your expectations are on point. Highest praises.
Thanks for your question and the photos. From the pictures you have only a hint of laxity. With nipples well above the fold like your I doubt that you will require /need a lift. I woud place implants, allow them to drop and settle and reevaluate in 6-12 months. A lift can always be added, but not taken away. Hope this helps-- more teaching in the link
From your photos I think you would likely benifit from a lift. The right breast seems lower than the left and the nipples, whle facing frontally are below the fold. A classic mistake is to go with very large implants to try and fill out the laxity, but then patients are too large and often still droopy. Pick the implant size that fits your frame and then let you PS guide you ast to the need for a lift. Hope this helps
You look slender and fit. Based upon your skin laxity think tummy tuck. When skin is loose removing fat just makes it looser. Tummy tuck removes both the excess skin and fat. Your PS will have to guide you to which type of TT by ascessing how much loose skin you have. Best Wishes.
Thanks for your question and the photos. You have a little bit of droop, but not a lot, and a little bit of assymetry, but with the nipples facing frontally. Based on your photos I think you will do ok with just implants as long as you are ok with still having some normal natural assymetry and you pick a reasonably sized implant. Your PS can guide you. When implants are below the muscle they dont fill out the breast right away, that can take a few months to settle so be prepared for that. Worst case lifts can always be added later. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your question. Mommy makeover can mean a lot of things and may include tummy, breast liposuction and even other surgeries. Even if were just a tummy tuck these things would be dangerous to do under local. Too much local anesthesia can be toxic. If you are having more surgeries let your PS and anesthesiologist know about your prior experience. In some cases extra medications can minimize post op nausea. In some case A laryngeal mask can replace a tube in the trachea that causes a sore throat. Your team will have to do what is safest for you but the discussion is worth having. Best wishes.
