For reference, I am a 27-year-old woman, 5’6”. For most of my life, I struggled with being overweight and with body image. At 23, I decided to completely change my life and began a weight-loss journey through diet and exercise. Over the course of a few years, I lost 120 pounds, going from 285 to 165. While I was incredibly proud of this accomplishment, my confidence was still held back by the loose skin left behind. Despite becoming healthier, I still felt like a stranger in my body and didn’t feel the confidence I thought I would. That’s when I began researching options for loose skin removal and breast augmentation.
I began my plastic surgery journey in April 2025. I did extensive research on RealSelf, Google, and Top Doctor publications in the area. I created a list of my top five surgeons and scheduled consultations with each of them. As a younger patient who had experienced extreme weight loss, there were not many examples of patients who looked like me, so I wanted to be very thorough with my research.
Dr. Tattelbaum was my first consultation, and the only one that was complimentary, so I admittedly did not go in with very high expectations. I was completely wrong. Dr. Tattelbaum spent over an hour with me, answered every question I had, and thoroughly explained everything I needed to know. He offered his professional recommendations while also taking the time to truly listen to my goals. I really appreciated how realistic he was—he never made promises that couldn’t be delivered. I left that appointment knowing he had set the bar extremely high and that he would likely be my surgeon.
I still completed the rest of my previously scheduled consultations that week, but each one felt lackluster compared to my experience with Dr. Tattelbaum. I paid $100–$300 for consultations where surgeons spent only 20 minutes in the room. After finishing my consultations, the choice was clear. I immediately scheduled my surgery with Dr. Tattelbaum, which was set for six weeks later.
Leading up to surgery, Dr. T, his PA Eve, his executive assistant Pei, and the entire staff ensured that every question I had was answered and that everything was prepared. The process was truly seamless. Everyone was incredibly responsive and supportive, and I always felt like I was in excellent hands.
My surgery took place on June 6, and everything went exactly as planned. I had an extended tummy tuck with muscle repair, along with a breast lift and augmentation. Prior to surgery, Dr. Tattelbaum carefully walked me through the pros and cons of an extended tummy tuck versus an FDL tummy tuck based on the amount of loose skin I had. We also discussed different implant sizes and ultimately chose an option that would provide the most natural and realistic results, especially considering my age and the possibility of having children in the future. I truly appreciated how thoughtful and thorough this process was.
I went home the same day as surgery with clear instructions for recovery. What really stood out to me was Dr. Tattelbaum’s bedside manner. He personally called me in the days following surgery to check on my progress in addition to several in-person follow-up visits.
Recovery was not easy—the first two weeks were definitely challenging—but looking back now, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Around the 6–8 week mark, I began feeling like myself again and gradually returned to light activity.
Today, I am nine months post-op and absolutely blown away by my results. For the first time in my life, I feel like I am living in a body that reflects the hard work I have put in. At the gym, people frequently compliment my results, and it has given me a level of confidence I never thought I would have. My stomach is flat, my breasts are full and beautiful, and my scars have healed incredibly well—something I was initially concerned about since I have very fair skin.
