Hi, I'm due to have my braces removed and I'm due to have 2 implants in the top lateral incisor positions. My implantologist suggested that he will place temporary crowns immediately after the implants are inserted. However, I need to wear retainers due to the recent orthodontic treatment. Can I use Essix retainers over the temporary implant crowns? Would it not be better to have an Essix retainer with composite material to mask the gaps instead?
I got my tooth extracted (i believe tooth #31) and had a bone graft done, and currently I'm waiting to have my implant put in. However, I recently got a essix retainer, that also fits around my missing tooth. If my teeth won't be moving because of the retainer, and I have a bone graft possibly preventing bone deterioration, then do I really need to spend the money to get an implant? Is it possible to still have jawbone atrophy? I'm 27, and dont want to look older than I am...
Had a tooth extracted to prep for implant, top jaw between the canine and front tooth. I was given a flipper, but after a few months id lost it and didnt want to buy another. Dental surgeon recommended an Essix bridge as a cheap alternative. My regular dentist couldnt make an Essix bridge, so put a temporary crown in by bonding it to teeth on either side. Im now more worried about teeth/jaw shifting than cost, want to get an Essix bridge but do they keep teeth/jaw from shifting like a flipper?
Had implant placed about a year ago i noticed some inflammation and went back to the dentist last week he told me I lost a lot of bone due to plaque buildup? I brush my teeth twice daily and after wearing my retainer at night the inflammation is worse. i ALWAYS brush. Now looking at meeting with a gum specialist and have a 2nd surgery as a student I dont know how I am suppose to afford all this? Is it worth getting a second opinion or do I have any other options?
I am 18 ready to start college, I have a baby tooth with no adult under it. It is not loose at the moment but in looking at my X-rays the roots are getting short so I know I don't have much longer. It is relatively close to the front and is visible clearly when I smile and talk. How long would I be toothless exactly in the dental implant process? Is there a way to have like a retainer with a fake on it while in the process?
Can my slightly chipped teeth be straightened with artificial enamel? I enjoy the overall apearance of my natural teeth. The bigger problem that I am having is that it is starting to effect my speech and I find that it has becomes more difficult to talk because I feel my teeth interferring. With the overemphasis of my speaking, I have been becoming more hoarse due to the strain on my voice. Since the age of 8, I have been told that all I need is a retainer. However, I am looking for a quick fix that will immediately improve my natural teeth. I am tired.
After making an appointment for dental implants, I was recently told that there wasn't enough space for a dental implant. Now i am being referred back to my orthodontist to create more 'root space' for my lateral teeth. How will this procedure be done? I am already missing 2 of my lateral teeth and I am afraid they will need to pull a tooth out. Will a tooth extraction be necessary since I'm already missing most my front teeth. Also will I still be able to wear my retainer with fake teeth?
My dentist advised against wearing my flipper for a week after bone graft/dental implant surgery. When can I wear my essix retainer? Can I have one modified to not apply pressure to the site, so I don't have to go toothless for 7-10 days? Also would it be advisable to put on a bonded retainer on my upper and lower front six teeth, since I may not be able to wear my retainer for up to a month? The implants are going in my upper first premolars. When can my flipper be worn to eat in?
