I am undergoing dental work and had an implant fitted with a bone graft in August 2023. Since then I have had persistent swelling above the tooth. I have been advised to have a gum graft, followed by removal of the bone graft in 3 months before replacing the crowns. I would like to know could this be a sign of bone graft failure and would you recommend the same advice? I have been told it is likely due to excess bone graft material being present. My X-rays have shown no signs of infection.
I was having swelling gum and pain and my dentist sent me to an peridontist (now I am feeling well). There is a 8mm pocket for my inner most teeth and bone lost due to wisdom teeth extraction 5 years ago. The peridontist suggests a bone graft (D4266m D4263, D4241). Is this urgent enough so I need to do the surgey now or I can do it in Jan next year? The major reason for postpone is to wait for insurance benefits renew.
Motrin 800 helps but am taking about every six hours to control it. I also take tramadol in the evening to help. This doesnt feel normal. Ive also started to have some discomfort on my neck and shoulder (same side) and discomfort to center of chest. Cardiac issue ruled out by ED so far (stress test this week). Appt to see oral surgeon In two days. Hoping to hold out until then!! I feel miserable!!
Canine tooth #11 never came in when I was young, so now that I'm older, I had bone graft put in to build bone for implant. It has been 1 week post surgery and my nose feels swollen. I feel like Dr. put in too much bone and the way he stitched the gumline makes me unable to move my upper lip and my nose looks weird. Is that normal? should I give it more time to heal. It feels really awkward. I called his office and they said he puts in more bone than necessary because it will go down with time.
Last Tuesday I got #2 and #20 extracted and bone grafts as well. Successful procedure. My stitches came out about 5-6 days later. I'm no longer in pain except for the gum on the inner side of #1. It feels kinda loose and flabby if that makes sense. It hurts because the swelling is making it go past that tooth so when I bite subconsciously it hurts. Is swelling next to the extracted tooth normal or is something wrong?
I had bone taken from my hip and placed in my upper maxilla. i am 21, i was involved in an accident where i lost 5 of my teeth and most of the bone on the right side of my upper maxilla. i looked fine after the accident except for the missing teeth. I decided to get the bone graft for the implants. the surgeon used abdominal muscle to act as the gums covering the implant. its been one year since the operation a lot of the swelling has subsided but there is still a noticeable amount on my cheek.
About 6 weeks ago i had tooth #8 extracted and a bone graft in preparation for a dental implant. Now I notice my right nostril is thicker and hard. Will this go down when the bone graft integrates? Will the dental implant cause more nasal swelling in this nostril?
