I am a healthy 73 who had implants and a lift 30 years ago. I've had no problems but want them out as well as a lift. Will the recovery be about the same as initially? Also, I don't know the size of my implants but will the doctor be able to determine the size of bra I will be after the surgery? Many Thanks
I am female, 71 years of age had silcone implants put in under the chest muscle in 1978. Left is ruptured, right is encapsulated . I have tried to make an appointment with a plastic surgeon .m Have been told they need to come out. Instead of an appointment, I receive a phone call 3 different times telling me Insurance won't pay, since I can't afford to have them removed on my own -- an appointment with a plastic surgeon never gets made. don't know what else to do.
Tks to Drs Barrett, Castillo & Gonzalez for reponses. Bilateral intracap ruptures, no issues physically, great shape, 65yrs old. I am more scared of an attempted en bloc than leaving them untreated. We have 2 PS in Thunder Bay, 1 refused my surgery -waiting on referral from other who I am hoping will just remove silicone, flush, and close me. Implants are 125cc and 75cc? Is there a chance I could have no issues if they are left untreated?? any info, studies, (other than Danish 1)
I have double lumen implants, now 30 years old, never replaced, never had a problem other than encapsulation. Can they be removed safely? I am 73years old, excellent health, no medications and physically active. Want some options please.
I'm consternated about whether to do the explant and BFT together or wait several months between procedures. It seems if the capsule stays in, there would be minimal trauma to the breast therefor providing a backdrop for the BFT to prevent fat from leaking into the empty space. I do have capsular contracture from 235 overs (2 yrs ago) and concerns that not removing part of the capsule will leave irregularities. It would be nice to not go through 2 surgeries and a long wait since I am 65.
Old breast implants, capsule contracture, pain and possible rupture. Have 45 year old silicone breast implants (1974) with severe capsular contracture & pain. Willing to travel to any state for explant. Mammograms and ultrasound show no problems. Primary doctor refuses to get MRI. Since implants so old, suspect damaged, maybe silent rupture. Have swollen neck lymph nodes. Blood work appears normal. Getting CT-Scan of neck tomorrow. Im 69 years, live alone, and need financial help for explant. Is any board certified doctor willing to take Medicare for this?
Hello, I am 69. My implants are 45 years old. One is ruptured. They are silicone and the manufacturer is Cox uphoff. I'm thinking if it's not causing symptoms, at my age, why mess with them? Not to mention the expense on a pension. Can silicone travel or does the body, recognize the silicone that leaks as foreign and automatically form a capsule around it?
I've been think of getting breast implants. I understand its short term risks and safety, but I can't find a clear and direct answer on its long term risks. Is the removal surgery a big trauma for an average health 70-year-old women. What's maxima age a doctor will perform the removal of saline implants? I need to know if I'll be able to sustain the removal at old age, once I have the implants. Thanks.
