How do breast augmentations impact auto-immune diseases? I am considering an augmentation, but since I have Lupus I am concerned with the possibility of increased risk associated with the procedure. Would you be able to shed some insight on breast implant illness, and how it is related to auto-immune diseases?
I am 52, avid exerciser, no symptoms of Sjogrens but tested ss-a(RO) positive and ANA positive. I have never had any health issues and rarely get sick so if I have an autoimmune disease it has never effected me at all. I want to get a BA but am slightly hesitant just b/c of these test results. I have tested negative on all other blood work-mother does have lupus and arthritis runs in her side of family
I posted recently asking about a breast augmentation after already being diagnosed with Lupus and RA. I'm not sure ow to respond on the question. To clarify, I've seen two board certified PS. Both said it's not a problem, no reason to be concerned, as long as rheumatologist releases. And will have to stop Plaquenil and Humira for surgery. My question is, has anyone operated on someone with this dx and any complications? One said had to be saline, other recommended silicone. Also wondering about that?
I have lupus and type one diabetic would I have trouble with breast surgery my lupus is in remission and since changing insulin 6 months ago my hbc levels have gone from 91 down to 56 my diabetic consultant has give me the all clear and go ahead but would surgeons say no tia
I have chronic hives as a result of SLE Lupus. I had my BR surgery two weeks ago and have had a terrible hives flare up. I have asked my surgeon wether it is the Oxycodone use or the surgery that caused the flare up and he was not sure. I am still taking half a tablet at night for pain so I can sleep. I also take benadryl, zyrtec, allegra, and hydroxyzine. Have any of you seen this before? Also, is it okay to begin a course of Prednisone since I am two weeks post op?
At the last minute my rheumatologist told me that if I can avoid having BA I should since I have RA and she said that I would possibly be at a higher risk of developing other conditions like sclerdoma or lupus as a result of the silicone implants. She said if I did decide to go through with it she would recommend saline vs silicone. At this point Ive already paid for the procedure so it would be costly to back out and I have concerns with saline since I hear it looks more fake. Thoughts?
Will I be at a greater risk on contracture? I'm considering silicone implants. I also take 5mg of prednisone daily. My PS wants me to discontinue the prednisone for 4 weeks to include a week before the surgery and three weeks after. Would such a low dosage really prevent me from healing and finally, because I have a compromised immune system, would it be possible to be on an antibiotic while I heal. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
