Since the advent of the profession, Dentists and their teams have given back to society in a number of ways - Dental Mission Trips, Office Pro-Bono work for those less fortunate, Charitable Clinics close to home, and providing care for numerous dental charities such as the Give Back a Smile Program administered by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry to restore the smiles of survivors of domestic abuse.

In May of this year, 8 dental students from the University of Tennessee and a local dentist went to Peru to assist those still recovering from the 2007 earthquake with their dental needs. The humanitarian trip was sponsored by Caprodelli USA (Chicago, IL) which builds homes, schools, and provides job taining and health care in the earthquake zone of Peru. The dental group provided close to 600 extractions, fillings, cleanings and flouride treatments, and provided oral hygiene education at 6 Caprodelli Schools. The group was thrilled to participate and feels they were the true winners by the warm reception and relationships formed.
