Perricone Alpha Lipoic Acid Age Fighters

I've long been intrigued by the purported benefits of Alpha Lipoic Acid. It makes sense to me that if you help control inflammation, you can in turn help control the effects of aging within the body. So I've decided to take on the trifecta of Perricone Cosmeceuticals Alpha Lipoic Acid formulas to see what they'll do for me.
1. Perricone MD Advanced Face Firming Activator
2. Perricone MD ALA Body Toning Lotion SPF 15
3. Perricone MD Alpha Lipoic Acid Supplements
The Perricone Science/Age Correct system is based on a holistic approach to beauty and the philosophy that inflammation within the body is connected with aging and age-related illnesses. According to Dr. Perricone, inflammation triggers free radicals that accelerate aging by attaching to and damaging cells. Alpha Lipoic Acid--touted as a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory--is key to Perricone's approach to anti-aging.
Here's my first impression...Admittedly, I've been taking the Perricone Alpha Lipoic Acid Supplements for a while now. I had read that ALA supplements can help (though I have yet to see a conclusive study) minimize inflammation in patients who undergo surgery. Well, I just had surgery, so we'll see if I notice any benefit, though it is rather hard to quantify.
Perricone Advanced Face Firming Activator definitely has one thing going for it before it's even out of the box--it's ingredient list. Here are the first few on the list: Aqua (water), Glycolic Acid, L-Tyrosine, Thioctic Acid (Alpha Lipoic Acid), Dimethyl MEA (DMAE)...and on it goes. Given that the highest concentrations of ingredients are listed first, and Perricone has most of the heavy-hitters at the top of the list, it's a good sign.
Advanced Face Firming Activator has a very light scent to it--once it's on, I can hardly detect it. The formula is a lotion that glides on smoothly, and it only takes a little to cover my face. I do see some initial plumping and smoothing, which is in part due to the Sodium Hyaluronate it contains as well. I find Advanced Face Firming Activator is not as moisturizing as I'd expect though, and I'd like it more if it contained a sunscreen, as the ALA Body Toning Lotion does.
Perricone ALA Body Toning Lotion SPF 15 is also a lotion--and while it glides on smoothly as well, it also could be a bit more moisturizing for my skin. It does have a tightening effect as it absorbs into my skin--this from the DMAE it contains. I definitely like that ALA Body Toning Lotion SPF 15 has a powerful punch of anti-oxidants (Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester, Vitamin E) and DMAE along with sunscreen protection so it's an all-in-one formula.
Was it worth it? I like the holistic approach and science behind Dr. Perricone's work with Alpha Lipoic Acid. The Advanced Face Firming Activator definitely smoothed my skin, though I'd like it if it had a sunscreen built in. Perricone ALA Body Toning Lotion SPF 15 did provide a tightening feel on my legs, though I could've used more hydration.
