Olay Definity Night Restorative Sleep Cream...is it worth it?

There's been a fair amount of talk in beautyland about skin brighteners. It tends to happen every year as we approach the warmer months when a mere nanosecond of sunlight will cause discolorations to start showing up unwanted, uninvited and unwelcome. And this year brighteners had a special moment in the spotlight with the news that--drumroll please--it's not just wrinkles that make you look old; it's really discoloration & dullness that get you first!
So Olay came out with their Olay Definity Night Restorative Sleep Cream--many versions on the market right now are apply-morning-and-night, but this is a sleep-on-it cream--and I wanted to get a first impression of it.
I have some freckles that have always crept up during summertime. But I wanted to try Definity Night Restorative Cream not for a specific spot or two, but for generalized brightening. Something that might project an image of, "oh, there's Nancy and yes, she is alive" as I've been feeling (and looking) a bit tired, worn, DULL. And Definity Night Cream does say on the label to smooth on: "any areas where discoloration and brown spots may occur." That would be my whole face. So my whole face it is.
Definity Night Restorative Cream is fairly rich--it's a luminescent opaque white cream with the scent that I can only describe as intrinsic to just about every Olay product I've tried recently. Not floral or green or fruity. It smoothes on nicely, and is moisturizing. But I draw attention to the look of the cream itself, because it's the luminous quality that's imparted to skin immediately. It gives your skin a glow that automatically has you thinking you look, well, glowing. Which I like.
Aside from the moisturizing properties and the aesthetic glow, I've been using Olay Definity Night Restorative Cream for about 2 weeks, faithfully at night, and the improvement I'm seeing is more from the hydration than an evening out of skin tone. My skin looks smoother in the morning, but not has not necessarily lightened up in spots.
If you want a pick-me-up glow of luminosity prior to hitting the sheets, Olay Definity Night Restorative Cream will give you that. It will also serve as an effective moisturizer. But if you suffer from more than mild (very mild) discolorations, this will not be your saving grace. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
