Skin Effects by Dr. Jeffrey Dover is an anti-aging skincare line (sold exclusively at CVS stores) that uses non-invasive approaches to fight off those fine lines and wrinkles. The Skin Effects line is hard to miss on store shelves in its pale blue packaging--and it looks the business. So I've wanted to give it a try.
I selected Skin Effects Penetrating Eye Treatment Mask With i/Complex 3 as it sounded like a min-spa for my over-tired & puffy eyes: put on the eye mask, relax for 5-10 minutes, and reveal a rejuvenated look.
I have to say my first impression was, "this is neat!"--not because of how Skin Effects Penetrating Eye Treatment Mask with i/Complex 3 works (we'll get to that) but because of the packaging. At first it's like opening a large disposable contact lens holder--you just have to be careful not to spill the contents as you peel back the paper covering. Then, you are automatically transported back to your petri-dish-in-chem-class days as you place the white "tablet" into the blue solution. Suddenly, the white tablet "grows" right before your eyes as it absorbs the solution.
As the Cat in the Hat would say...but that is not all--oh no, that is not all! Next, that newly expanded white tablet unravels to become an eye mask that you place over your eyes for your 5-10 minutes of peace, which I did. Once my time was up, I did my reveal.
My eye area definitely looked more relaxed, rested and smoothed out. Of course, lying down with feet propped didn't hurt. I'm also thinking that it might be a nice add to refrigerate Skin Effects Penetrating Eye Treatment Mask before applying. I just wish the effects lasted longer, as within an hour or two after wearing the mask my eye area started its retreat back to its fatigued-looking state.
Was it worth it? For a quick, easy and relaxing mini-break that gives eyes a little pick-me-up, Skin Effects Penetrating Eye Treatment Mask with i/Complex 3 was great. It definitely gave me a rejuvenated look, if only temporarily--and at a fraction of what I'd pay for a spa treatment.
