After the After
Fans of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are sure to recognize Dr. Paul Nassif, but now the renowned facial plastic surgeon is giving viewers a closer look at the other side of his life. Joined by plastic surgeon and fellow Housewives star Dr. Terry Dubrow, Paul Nassif has brought us a new series which follows the doctor as he attempts to fix Botched plastic surgeries.

RealSelf caught up with Dr. Nassif to spill the deets on the Season 1 premiere, which aired on Tuesday, June 24 on E!. The doctor shared his thoughts on the patients featured on the show, and gave us some inside scoop on what we can expect for the rest of the season.

“It’s going to be a fun-filled, very adventurous show,” he revealed. “We’re taking patients that have had devastating things happen to them from very bad surgeries. [...] We’re taking them and giving them one last chance to have a normal life.”

We watched as Dr. Nassif took on the case of Michelle, an actress who had undergone six rhinoplasties, all with unsuccessful results. In order to finally give Michelle the nose that she wanted, Dr. Nassif needed to take a piece of cartilage from her rib. He got a bit of a surprise, however, when he discovered that the rib was calcified, leading him to believe that Michelle had lied about her age. Dr. Nassif (and medical professionals everywhere, probably) advise you: DO NOT LIE TO YOUR SURGEON!

“A patient has to be completely honest about everything,” he explains. “Age, medication, medical issues, everything — anything that could cause issues in surgery. Someone in their 50s on up, sometimes the cartilage gets calcified and really hard, and we have to anticipate that. It’s very important to know the age, but that led me to believe that she was older than she was saying.”

Of course RealSelf couldn’t let Dr. Nassif go without asking him about Justin, aka The Human Ken Doll. While the doctors ultimately decided not to operate on him, Dr. Nassif praised Justin’s creatively and intelligence. “He is a very smart individual and he’s very creative. He doesn’t have Body Dysmorphic Disorder. He just likes this look. But that’s not our cup of tea. Our goal is to fix people that really need us.”
