VASER LIPOSUCTION

WHAT IS VASER LIPOSUCTION?

Vaser stands for (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance), it is a minimally invasive fat removal and body contouring liposuction procedure, and it is an alternative technique to the traditional liposuction methods. I believe it is easier to sculpt and contour the body.  Improving areas such as the back rolls, abdominal definition, and waistline are just a few of the common areas that can be treated with better results.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR VASER LIPOSUCTION?

A good candidate is a healthy person seeking a fast and minimally invasive way to get rid of stubborn fat.  Those patients looking for better definition of muscles and better contouring of body parts.  Those patients who are looking for more sculpting of their body are good candidates for Vaser as apposed to traditional liposuction.

HOW IS VASER LIPOSUCTION PERFORMED?

The area on which the procedure is to be carried out on is filled with tumescent saline solution which swells the tissue and allow the ultrasound energy to separate the fat cells using a small instrument about the size of a pencil. These fat cells, which are now loosened, can be gently suctioned out with a traditional suction cannula.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY LIKE FROM VASER LIPOSUCTION?

A short period of rest of 12-24 hours is usually recommended immediately after the procedure. Activity is largely dependent upon how you, the patient feels. Like traditional liposuction, there are no large incisions or treatment of underlying tissues such as muscle that need healing.  Recovery is mostly base on the level of soreness or bruising that you may experience, however, most activity is unlikely to delay healing or create problems with recovery.  Many studies indicate that there is also less injury than the traditional liposuction method resulting in less pain, swelling and bruising.  Final results can be seen 2-4 months later as the swelling continues to diminish and contours become more defined.   These contours can even improve throughout the year after surgery.

We will generally have our patients use a variety of compressive garments while they heal.  More specific body sculpting or hi-definition treatments may require more specific compression to obtain the best result.

HOW LONG IS THE VASER LIPOSUCTION TREATMENT?

It takes from one to several hours depending on the areas being treated and the goals of the operation.  As an example, a thin patient desiring sculpting and refinement of their abdominal contours may take more time than a heavier individual requesting generalized fat reduction.
