How often do I have to repeat cosmetic facial procedures?

We recommend repeating microdermabrasion or light chemical peels every 3 months. This will help your skin look healthy and exfoliate the top layers of skin for a pretty complexion. BOTOX® is usually repeated every 4-6 months and the injectable filler products for the face vary according to type used and location injected. The range to repeat filler injections can be as short as every 6 months (for just lip enhancement) or up to every 1-2 years for other areas.

For cosmetic facial surgical procedures, we tell patients to expect to do most procedures at least once. Eyelids can last 10 or more years if done at a relatively early age. Patients may have them done twice in a lifetime. A facelift may last 8-15 years before patients feel they can benefit from repeating the procedure, again this may depend on the patient's skin elasticity and when they had their first one. We notice our patients who start when they first start showing the signs of aging may possible have as many as 3 facelifts (typically early 50s, one in their 60s and then again in their 70s).

Although this may sound a bit extreme to you, let me assure you that undergoing procedures as they become indicated, even if it seems frequent, are the key to looking age appropriate without looking aged. Less is more when done early, and that is the key to aging gracefully.
