Putting Your Best Face Forward This Spring

by

Spring is the season of nature's rejuvenation…and YOUR rejuvenation, too. The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reported a 12% increase in procedures in 2013. Wondering why? "Selfies" are a force that's driving the demand for plastic surgery. Frequent taking and sharing pictures of yourself on social media is bound to heighten self-awareness...and self-criticism. After the brutal winter, now is the time to get your face ready for the summer. We offer a full-array of non-invasive, minimally-invasive, and surgical options for facial rejuvenation.
Why does my skin look older?
As you age, your outer skin (epidermis) gets thicker and your inner skin (dermis) gets thinner. Genetics, smoking, gravity, and past exposure to the sun all play a role in lost elasticity and the formation of facial wrinkles, lines, creases and hollows. Our goal is to reverse many of the signs of aging.
What non-invasive procedures are available for my face?
One of the most popular, new facial procedures is Ultherapy™. Using an ultrasound wand and sound waves, this single session procedure stimulates collagen and tightens and lifts facial skin for long-term effects.
Another option, microdermabrasion, gently removes the dry outer skin layers and is designed to make fine lines vanish and leave you with fresh, glowing, younger-looking skin.
For your initial consultation, you’ll be evaluated by our medical aesthetician in conjunction with a plastic surgeon to assure a treatment plan customized to your needs.
What minimally-invasive procedures are available for my face?
Minimally-invasive procedures using injectable medications such as Botox™ and/or fillers can instantly reduce wrinkles and fill in the creases of early aging.
Botox™ and other injectables can lift up the corners of the mouth, eliminate dimpling of the chin, lessen the lines around the mouth, and more. Botox™ can even elevate the eyebrows… prolonging or eliminating the need for a brow lift.
Another option—fillers-- not only fill in facial creases but can restore precious volume loss that occurs as we age. And cheek augmentation with the newest facial filler, Juverderm Voluma XC™,may lessen the need for other fillers and restore that youth facial silhouette.
What if my face needs something more?
It’s important to see a board-certified plastic surgeon because sometimes what you need to look your best is beyond what non-invasive and minimally-invasive procedures can deliver. You deserve a practitioner who knows and can offer ALL the options including the more invasive ones, if needed. Take your eyes, for example. Sometimes no amount of skin tightening can help with excess skin such as in the upper eyelid. An upper blepharoplasty can often be performed under local anesthesia in about 45 minutes and may take about 10 years off your appearance. Lower eyelid bags are due to herniation of fat. A lower blepharoplasty can reposition that fat between the eyelid and cheek junction to give a smooth contour. The latest trend is fat augmentation to the face such as in the lips, cheeks, and eyelids-- using your own fat-- again to restore lost contour volume. Mini-Facelifts help tighten the jowls and upper neck skin through small incisions and can be combined with other procedures to minimize your downtime. These procedures can be done under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.
