General Dentistry vs. Cosmetic Dentistry

When you are working with experienced dentists there will be some crossover between general and cosmetic dentistry.  We strive to provide the most aesthetically pleasing and functionally sound solutions for every issue you may be facing with your smile.  However, in general terms, these two branches of dentistry are not the same thing.

General Dentistry
The general dentistry services available at Columbia’s Dentistry by Design include biannual visits for cleanings and examinations in addition to services such as dental fillings, dental crowns and bridges, inlays, onlays, and other restorative procedures intended to strengthen and protect your smile. General dentistry is concerned with the prevention, detection, and treatment of common dental issues.

Cosmetic Dentistry
Our Columbia cosmetic dentists offer cosmetic dentistry services such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, dental bonding, and dental implants. Crowns, bridges, and tooth colored fillings may also be a part of the aesthetic perfection of your smile as well, but are not exclusively cosmetic services.

Cosmetic dentistry can strengthen your teeth and improve the function of your smile, but its primary focus is beauty.

We at Dentistry by Design in Columbia, Missouri, has extensive experience working with children.  Our team does so in a fun and caring manner, to ensure that kiddos of all ages are comfortable.
