Don't make that face, it might stay that way.

My mother would say, "Don’t make that face. It’ll stay that way.” Although I didn't believe her, I have now come to know it holds some truth!

The effects of gravity, loss of skin elasticity and subcutaneous fat, muscle and bony volume contribute to the way our face ages, which allows skin to soften and sag. Other factors are typical movements of facial
expressions like frowning, raising brows, turning down the corners of your mouth, even smiling. Over time, these repetitive movements will stress the skin along lines of weakness and now your softened skin is also wrinkled.

The good news is we have ways to minimize the traces time. A first steps is always skin care such as sun protection, exfoliating and moisturizing. For further anti-aging remedies, the injectables of BOTOX or Dysport help relax frown lines and crow's feet. With faces that show volume loss, Voluma or Sculptra may be recommended, for lines and hollowness around the nasal folds or mouth and chin area then Juvéderm, Restylane and now Belotero can be helpful. Some fillers are more appropriate for facial areas than others. More importantly, observing the contours of the face to create a more youthful look is crucial in giving my patients the natural look they desire. Our patients will not get the over-inflated, doughy or cartoonish look that is unfortunately evident on some of the older celebrities.

So you will be happy to know that in today's world you actually are not stuck with that face you’ve made all those years. We are here to help.
