My dermatologist started me at 80mg and told me we would try it out for five months. He had me taking an antibiotic that cleared up my face temporarily, so I started accutane with an almost clear face. I say temporarily, because I've been on that antibiotic two other times and after three months the acne returns. Is the 80mg too much for my weight?
My dermatologist recently suggested Accutane for my rosacea (flushing and lesions). I can't take antibiotics, they give me significant GI issues. Have tried topicals. My question is whether the acne will come back after I stop the Accutane. She suggested a very low dose for a year, and I know that the overall dose that is given is most important in terms of whether acne comes back. My acne is not that severe, but unfortunately it is getting worse slowly and I don't have many other options.
I went on acctutane, 30 mg for 4 or 5 months. My skin broke out so bad. Huge cysts. I've tried everything you can imagine topical and antibiotics. I started breaking out again, it's been a few years but I started breaking out within a year after getting off accurate. I want to do a second round, but I'm scared I will have the same terrible breakout I did when I was on it. On average, do patients have a lesser breakout than the first time or is it about the same as the first?
23 year old male. This is with 10 years prescription benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin phosphate and adapelene use and occasional few-month periods of oral antibiotics use. It really sucks. I've done everything out there with very little success. Would accutane be worth the side effects?
ive been on the oral steroid to stop the flare and even antibiotics... it just seems to be getting worse below are progressional pictures of just how bad it looks. This is post and pre oral steroids and antibiotics course.
i'm at the beginning of month 2 on isotretinoin and the doctor increased my dose to 60 mg i was on 40 the problem is that i have a very resistant boil or curbuncle-like cyst on my cheek which is there for about one month now. It doesn't affect by any sort of topical antibiotic. I'm thinking of taking a three day course of oral azithromycin but still afraid from drug interactions. Any advice ?
I have just started a course of accutane at 20mg a day (I'm an 85kg male). I've been incredibly anxious about my skin of late, as I'm coming off the back of 10 years of more or less 99% clear skin from antibiotics, which recently stopped working, so i don't have the coping mechanisms that I had when I was 17. I've been placed on Accutane and have felt a lump in my throat after taking the pill on two of the three days that i've taken it. Is this just anxiety or am I having an anaphylactic reaction?
I'm 25 and I already did 3 full courses of Accutane and the acne always came back. My last course was when I was 18. I tried many antibiotics and creams but they never did much. I'm seriously thinking about doing another course of Accutane or maybe doing a low long term dose and hope someday I will grow out of acne. I'm just scared of long term side effects on bones that may occur to me later in life. I feel like I'm wasting my life and acne is holding me back.
