Im at 26yo male that has suffered from acne on and off for 10 years or so. I have used many different topical treatments (differin, duac, dalacin T) and different oral antibiotics (lymecycline, tetracycline, doxycycline). They have worked but only very short term. My acne has had a major breakout and its at its worst its ever been. I break out mostly on my forehead and around my cheekbone on the right side of my face (see pictures). I am seeing a dermatologist in 2 weeks time.
Hi doctor, Im 26 years old female and recently started accutane for my stubborn acne. This is day 14, Ive been taking 20mg every other day, starting 20mg everyday in about weeks time. Ive started breaking out a lot around my mouth and chin area. The cysts are so painful and red. I was wondering if this is normal on day 14? How long does the breakout last?
I am 30. After everything failed to permanently cure my now mild but persistent acne (including accutane) I am considering my options for a long term treatment and management of my skin. I am scared when I read all the side effect of both birth control pills and accutane, and wondering if there is a safe option.
I am 32 years old and have had pretty mild acne throughout my life. That all changed after having both ovaries removed almost 2 years ago. I get huge painful cysts on my neck and jawline that leave red marks for weeks. I am on 0.625/2.5mg Prempro for hormone replacement. It's at the point where I won't leave the house for any reason without full makeup. I do try to take good care of my skin by using very mild cleanser and noncomedogenic oils (rosehip seed, argan, tea tree, jojoba, etc.) Help!
I've had acne since I was 15 im 25 now and I have never had clear skin. I've tried Retin A, differin, Tazorac, BP everything nothing really works. Lately my skin has been getting worse and worse and its really affecting my self esteem im so embarrassed. Could accutane be an option for me?
This is my third dose of accutane since 2007 - i took 20mg daily from Dec 2007 to Jun 2009, and then 20mg from Oct 2010 to Apr 2011, 30mg in May to June 2011 and then returned to 20mg till Oct 2011. I started my third dose of accutane in Aug 2013 (20mg daily) and I'm still getting pimples. Is it ok for me to increase my daily dose to 40mg? I'm 32, female, and I weigh 106bs.
Age 30, have mild but constant acne which causes scarring. I want to talk to my doctor about doing a 10mg accutane regime for around 6 months. Is this a reasonable plan to discuss with my doctor. Im basing this off New Zealand studies linked below. My other main concern is extreme oily skin and body acne. I do not want to go on a high dose because of side effects and this would be the only way I would take Accutane. https://bpac.org.nz/BPJ/2013/November/docs/BPJ56-acne.pdf
I've been breaking out on my face, neck, ears, back, chest, all the way down to my stomach and the top of my buttocks since I was 11. I'm now 26. I've tried antibiotics, prescription topical ointments, and quite literally every over the counter treatment. Nothing makes more than a small difference. I've been considering accutane for a few years now. Is it possible I could be prescribed it, without having to do more bogus topicals and antibiotics? I live in the Phoenix area.
I am a 28 year old woman, and I have had mild acne since I was 14. It tends to focus around my cheeks and jawline, but it is not uncommon to get it on my chest and back from time to time. Am I a good candidate for Accutane? Ive had mixed answers from derms in the past where one has said I would be a good candidate and another has said it only impacts cystic acne whereas mine is hormonal (which I believe cystic is also hormonal?) and smaller?
