Im at 26yo male that has suffered from acne on and off for 10 years or so. I have used many different topical treatments (differin, duac, dalacin T) and different oral antibiotics (lymecycline, tetracycline, doxycycline). They have worked but only very short term. My acne has had a major breakout and its at its worst its ever been. I break out mostly on my forehead and around my cheekbone on the right side of my face (see pictures). I am seeing a dermatologist in 2 weeks time.
One course of accutane has been completed but my acne coming back. I was on Accutane for 9 months, results were perfect but 3 months later I started getting tiny bumps on my forehead so I was prescribed Differin. My skin is still progressively getting worse where I have spots all over my face and neck and I've been patient and waited 3 months to see if the cream will work. I feel heartbroken as I thought it was the end of my 14 year acne journey. Do you think I can get re-referred to a dermatologist?
I've had acne since I was 15 im 25 now and I have never had clear skin. I've tried Retin A, differin, Tazorac, BP everything nothing really works. Lately my skin has been getting worse and worse and its really affecting my self esteem im so embarrassed. Could accutane be an option for me?
Been struggling with quite severe acne for about 8 years, now I'm 18. For the past 2 years, my derma gave me clindamycin, AHA 10, Differin gel for the 1st then switched to retinoic acid 0.025% for the 2nd but with no significant changes. Just recently over a online consult, I was prescribed Accutane to also help with my oiliness but I have yet to start taking it since my research says that it should be a last resort but I have yet to try other antibiotics, hormones etc. Should I be worried?
I'm wondering about accutane or other options. I'm currently on 150 mg of spironolactone. I've done aczone, clindamyacin, Retin-A and differin gel (at different times). Spiro cleared me for a few months, but then it came back worse than it has ever been. My acne covers the beard area that exists in hormonal acne. It is painful and crippling to my self esteem. It is also getting worse by the day.
I know both of them are not good while on accutane , but I want to get rid of these red marks fast , I'm very inpatient , I will grandually incrase the usage from 1 time /week to 2-3 time/week and them hopefully daily use , I will do a test patch before , but my question retin-a or differin while on accutane? What's the more gentle option for this?
