Most of those who say it was “Worth It” cite a noticeable enhancement in the treatment area, with natural-looking results. Several noted subtle lip augmentation, while others were happy with an improved profile from jawline or chin fillers. 

Among those who rated these facial fillers “Not Worth It,” many cited unsightly bumps or asymmetry from poorly placed injections. Others felt that their lips were over-filled. 

As you’re weighing whether it will be worth the investment for you, keep in mind that Juvéderm results last anywhere between 6 months to 2 years or more, depending on:

Which factors impact the cost of Juvéderm treatments?

These are the biggest factors that affect the cost of Juvéderm injections.

1. How much Juvéderm you need

How many syringes of Juvéderm you need for your desired results will have a big impact on your price.

How far one syringe goes all depends on the depth of the treatment area and how much volume you want. 

As Chicago-based facial plastic surgeon Dr. Anil Shah explains, “In some patients, one-quarter of a syringe will offer adequate treatment of a smile line, while in other patients, two full syringes may not be enough.” 

Most injectors take a conservative approach with lip fillers, especially if it’s your first time. It’s always possible to add more volume or fine-tune the result in a follow-up appointment.

With lips, your individual anatomy will also influence how much product you need. If you have thin lips, your Juvéderm lip filler cost may actually be less than that of someone with naturally fuller lips, with more room to fill.

During your initial consultation, your injector should estimate the number of syringes you’ll need. This is a great time to ask about the price for one syringe and an estimate of your total cost.

Each has a different formula, intended to enhance different areas of the face. They’re also available in “XC” versions, which means they contain lidocaine to make your treatment more comfortable.

For example, Juvéderm Voluma and Volux, the thickest formulas in the collection, are used to mimic bone. They can augment cheekbones, create a more chiseled or pronounced chin, and sculpt a stronger jawline. 

Juvéderm fillers with Vycross technology—a strong crosslinking that helps them last longer—tend to cost more than more lightweight Juvéderm gels. Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Volux all fall under the Vycross umbrella. Generally speaking, the thicker the filler, the more expensive it is.

For example, at Krauss Dermatology in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts, doctors charge $675 for the first syringe of Juvederm Ultra or Ultra Plus, or Juvederm Volbella for lip lines, but up to $975 for a syringe of longer-lasting Voluma. Additional syringes are discounted by $100 each. 

When you discuss your treatment plan and cost per syringe, ask which Juvéderm products your injector plans to use and how their selection impacts your cost per syringe. 

3. The credentials and experience level of your injector 

Juvéderm injections from a registered nurse injector or physician’s assistant typically cost less than those done by a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon, though any injector with extensive experience will charge more per syringe.

For the sake of your safety and results, it’s well worth paying for an injector who has the training and years of experience to really know what they’re doing. 

Why? Results are very technique-dependent. It’s crucial to go to someone who knows how to minimize the risk of side effects (including bruising), avoid potentially serious risks, and give you the best results.

As you’re choosing your injector, pay close attention to their credentials, patient reviews, and before and after photos. Especially if you book with a med spa, make sure you know who will be wielding the syringe and trust their training.

Medical practices and med spas operating in areas with higher rents and costs of living typically charge higher prices for a Juvéderm procedure.
