EndyMed 3DEEP is a skin rejuvenation procedure that uses radiofrequency energy (RF) to help smooth, lift, and tighten skin.

Technically, it's a trio of noninvasive treatments that use EndyMed's 3DEEP RF technology to heat the lower layers of the skin, while minimally heating the skin's surface. Its three handheld applicators—powered by the EndyMed Pro platform—each have different purposes: tightening and contouring, Intensif RF microneedling, and fractional skin resurfacing (FSR).

Skin tightening and contouring: The EndyMed 3DEEP radiofrequency device works for both facial tightening and body tightening.

  • This skin tightening treatment is designed to lift sagging or loose skin, smooth wrinkles, tone cellulite, and shape areas with skin laxity due to aging or weight loss.
  • Its radiofrequency technology is FDA-cleared to treat sensitive areas around the eyes and mouth, but it can also treat the neck, legs, underarms, and under the chin.
  • Dermal heating (to 125°F) invigorates new collagen production and improves elasticity deep in the dermis, the lower layers of skin. Heating the dermis to 50-52 degree Celsius triggers collagen remodeling, with results that build over time.
  • There’s no reported downtime, but most people need multiple treatments (up to 10 sessions) for optimal results.

Intensif RF microneedling: As your provider moves the Intensif device across your face, 25 ultra-thin, gold-plated needles penetrate your skin, while short pulses of RF energy deliver heat through the needles, into the dermis.

  • The combination of heat and microneedling stimulates a healing response that boosts new collagen production. “Intensif triggers the skin's natural healing process, rejuvenating and refreshing the skin while reducing the appearance of wrinkles, acne, and traumatic scars, in all skin types,” says Dr. David P. Melamed, a dermatologist in Los Angeles.
  • The treatment can also reduce the appearance of large pores, acne scars, stretch marks, and fine-to-deep wrinkles on your face, neck, chest, and body.
  • Downtime depends on the intensity level of your procedure and personal sensitivity, but expect a few days of swelling and redness.
  • You may need more than one treatment to see the results you want.

Fractional skin resurfacing (FSR): The EndyMed 3DEEP FSR uses 112 tiny electrodes to heat multiple layers of skin, prompting it to heal on its own. “Fractional skin resurfacing addresses the texture and quality of the skin, treating fine lines, roughness, uneven skin tone, dryness, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, wrinkles, and scarring,” says London physician Dr. Sach Mohan. “It’s perfect for anyone who wants the effects of a [deep] chemical peel, with less downtime and a lower risk profile.”

  • EndyMed FSR laser treatment creates microdamage in your skin's upper layers, while heating the skin's lower layers to boost new collagen production.
  • You can expect redness and swelling for a few days afterward.
  • You'll see visible improvement in your skin texture and firmness as it heals and collagen production increases. After a week, your skin will look and feel noticeably different, and any superficial side effects should have healed within two weeks.
  • After the redness fades, you’ll begin to see the laser’s “grid” marks (tiny dots) on your skin surface. It will feel tight and itchy, and the dots will scab, but all of this should resolve within a week.
  • Even after the initial benefits, increased collagen should continue to plump and regenerate your skin for a year or more.

RealSelf Tip: EndyMed 3DEEP technology is relatively new, so it’s essential to see a board-certified plastic surgeon, doctor, dermatologist, or highly experienced esthetician with the training to deliver it safely. Several RealSelf members who reviewed their treatment reported side effects, including pain during the procedure (even with numbing cream), unwanted volume loss, and blistering after Intensif microneedling that left their skin with the “texture of sandpaper.” Make sure to find reputable provider reviews and see before and after photos of their patients, to make sure you're in good hands.

Pros

  • EndyMed 3DEEP treatments typically take less than 30 minutes, depending on the treatment area, concern, and type of treatment you have.
  • Collagen levels continue to improve for up to a year, according to a 2011 study, and results are long-lasting. “A fair expectation would be two to five years of longevity, provided you're not a smoker and don’t abuse the sun,” says dermatologist Dr. Jeff Rapaport from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
  • Because EndyMed 3DEEP RF heats the dermis and doesn't target melanin (skin pigment), treatment is suitable for people of all skin types and tones, without the risk of hyperpigmentation, according to the manufacturer.
  • While the Intensif and fractional skin resurfacing (FSR) penetrate deep into the skin, they have safety mechanisms to guard against burning or blistering of the epidermis during treatment, to prevent complications like scarring.
  • The multi-source RF technology allows the procedure to target several layers of skin at once.

Cons

  • Your skin may be red or swollen immediately following your appointment. In rare cases (or if the setting was too high), the swelling and redness may take weeks to fully resolve.
  • Patients report pain and light bleeding and bruising. Make sure your physician uses both numbing and cooling products before applying the Intensif and FSR devices. If pain, bleeding, or a burning sensation continues after you’ve gone home, contact your provider.
  • Although you should see some results immediately, you will need multiple sessions, particularly for skin tightening and body contouring. “The tightening and contouring procedure will take a few treatments for best results,” says Dr. Melamed.
  • Long-term results can take 3–6 months to appear, after a full course of treatments. "Since building collagen starts at four weeks and takes 3-6 months to complete, you need to be patient till you see the expected final results," says Dr. Yoram Harth, a dermatologist in Israel.
  • You may experience some irritation, scaliness, or flakiness for about a week after microneedling or resurfacing, as your skin heals.
  • While the tightening and contouring handpiece delivers results without downtime, dermatologists say that after Intensif and FSR appointments, it can take three to five days before people feel comfortable socializing.
  • Though RF is generally very safe and effective, "the treatment can sometimes generate a lot of energy—and in the process, underlying fat cells can be damaged and lead to atrophy (shrinking)," says Dr. Melamed. An experienced and qualified provider will be able to provide a safe and effective treatment, while minimizing the risk of side effects.
  • Radiofrequency machines have quite a few contraindications, including interaction with implanted pacemakers or defibrillators. Go over your health history with your doctor to make sure RF treatment is safe for you.

EndyMed 3DEEP radiofrequency treatments are designed to be suitable for people with all skin types, without a significant risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The devices rely on software to control the power and depth of the RF energy flow during treatment, leaving less room for provider error or complications.

That said, finding an experienced provider is still important, especially for people with Fitzpatrick skin types V or VI who may be at a higher risk of hypo- or hyperpigmentation.

  • Average Cost:
  • $1,125
  • Range:
  • $469 - $1,501

Your cost will depend on your provider, their location, and the extent of your treatment.

Keep in mind that you will likely need multiple sessions to see optimal results and maintain your treatment benefits over time. "It's usually advisable to have a second course of treatment after 12-18 months," says Dr. Harth.

EndyMed 3DEEP is an elective cosmetic procedure, so it's not covered by insurance.

EndyMed DEEP3 has a relatively low 67% Worth It Rating from RealSelf members, so it doesn't work for everyone. However, those who said it was Worth It saw tighter, smoother skin after several treatment sessions.

A study on 20 patients of Asian descent, published in the journal Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, found that 90% of participants reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the results of a single treatment.

While RF technology is generally considered a safe and effective mode of skin tightening, those who said it was Not Worth It were primarily concerned by unwanted fat loss or changes in skin texture, though some saw a lack of improvement.

Your provider’s level of training and experience is a crucial factor in whether you’ll see results, with a lower risk of unwanted side effects.
