Hi, I'm Dr. Michael Zadeh, the Z Center for Cosmetic Health. Today we're going to talk about the difference between cool sculpting and liposuction. This is a question that a lot of our clients ask during their consultation session. Basically liposuction is a surgical procedure which involves the removal of fat, so it requires incisions, the insertion of a cannula, and the fat is basically sucked out. So this has the risk associated with it that any other surgical procedure does, like wound infection. There's also the risk of fluid build up. You have to wear compression stockings for a period of time and so forth. Cool sculpting, on the other hand, is a completely non-surgical way to reduce bulges of stubborn fat, and the way it does that is that an applicator is applied and the fat is frozen. So the main differences between cool sculpting and liposuction is that there's no incisions, there's no downtime, there's very little risk, and you can end up getting a more uniform fat loss with cool sculpting than you can with liposuction. So if you're looking for a noninvasive way to lose areas of fat, cool sculpting may be perfect for you.
