Hi. I'm Larry Schlesinger, and I'm a board certified plastic surgeon from Honolulu, Hawaii, and the question of the day is, "What does a labiaplasty cost?"

Labiaplasty costs differ in different parts of the country. In Hawaii, a labiaplasty runs anywhere from about $3500 to $6000, depending on the difficulty of the labiaplasty and the skill of the surgeon. What you're looking for is a doctor who is well-versed in removing the excess tissue, tightening the introitus, and leaving you with basically no scar.

It's not the simplest operation in the world. There are extra things that must be attended to. Labia, if you study them closely, have little external runners that go up from the labia, on either side of the clitoris. These need to be removed, before you start taking out the extra tissue in the labia. An associated surgery that goes along with the labiaplasty is also a clitoral hood reduction. This is done sometimes but not a lot, and when it's done, it has to be done in a very conservative fashion, because if the clitoris is unroofed too much, there can be too much stimulation, and intercourse can become painful. That is what we talk about for the surgery, for a labiaplasty.

Again, I'm Larry Schlesinger, I'm a board certified plastic surgeon. Thank you very much.
