Hi, I'm Dr. Paul Nassif and I'm answering some blog questions. And Marie from San Diego asked, "Do patients ever need another rhinoplasty after a revision?" First of all, that's a great question. The answer is, hopefully not, but it does happen sometimes. When you have surgery on your nose and then you need another surgery, the healing is always different due to three-dimensional shrink wrappage of the skin of the nose. And healing, there's still a revision rate of possibly up to 10%. You know, these are usually minor tweaks. But you never know how something's going to heal. I tell patients that they need a full two years to heal.

And sometimes you can do a little small tweak at six months or a year, which is a small thing. But again, it depends on how the nose heals. Because a nose can look absolutely perfect on the operating table, but when you look at the nose three months, six months, a year later, and then we can have some changes that are not necessarily aesthetically pleasing occur. In that situation, you need a revision. And you know, it is our goal always for.. This could be the final surgery, but nationally, for everyone who has a rhinoplasty first time, there's about a 17 to 20% revision rate during that first five years. So it's huge. So hopefully those numbers answer. And so thanks for asking that question.
