The recovery generally involves no heavy lifting or strenuous activity for about five to six weeks after surgery. Usually after surgery all our patients are ambulatory a few hours after surgery. It's really important to get you walking to get your own blood circulating and it prevents blood clots from occurring. Now in terms of getting back to work, if you have a desk job I will tell you to try to take off about two to three weeks after your body left surgery. Now, in terms of getting back to working out or strenuous activity, I will generally recommend holding off on any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for about four to six weeks after surgery again depending on what's involved in your surgery would really fine-tune my recommendation for recovery but those are some pretty good guidelines to follow.
