Phaedra Parks: Now for women, of course, the breasts are primarily fat, and so when you have dramatic weight loss, is it smart to have any type of cosmetic procedure for the breast area or should you wait?

Dr. Robert Centeno: Most weight loss patients either get a breast reduction, a breast lift, or a lift with some sort of augmentation. We advocate using the lateral chest tissue to auto-augment the breast because breast implants after weight loss are associated with a very, very high complication rate. There's a lot of implant displacement and malposition. So I would caution patients that if your tissues are very loose after weight loss, implants are not the best choice. There are other auto-augmentation techniques that go with breast lifting that provide better long-term results.
