Actually, statistically Invisalign is more effective than traditional braces. Might want to look up facts before you spread lies. They should never turn yellow - did you ever brush your teeth or aligners? You can't remember to put them back in? Wow...

Yes, a retainer is necessary for all types of braces. Hence why the original poster has braces AGAIN. They didn't follow directions about wearing a retainer and look whats happens: 1 year of pain and out of $5000.
