Further to my initial post, I would like to advise that I have a very high pain threshold but still felt significant pain following Smart Lipo with aspiration. I was unable to walk around properly for 4 days and felt extremely stiff and sore. I took painkillers but still found it painful. I did not take any asprin, ibuprofen or green tea etc... in the days prior to the procedure. I took arnica tablets for 5 days pre and 10 days post procedure. I used ice packs for up to 3 days after the procedure. Additionally I used arnica cream for 2 weeks on the bruised areas to try to make it go down. Despite this, my bruising and swelling did not go down until 2 weeks later. My doctor explained everything to me about the process, swelling & bruising. In addition, I had done much self research on the topic before committing to going ahead with the procedure. In any communications I read on the topic, I was led to believe that there would be minimal side effects. I felt I was fully armed with the knowledge I required to proceed and was confident it would be a straight forward procedure. For me there were more significant side effects than they advertise. I wanted to post this to alert others. If you are having it done, I would research your doctor and how many procedures he/she has performed. It is possible that my negative experiences were down to the doctor. I am however pleased with the results, so from that perspective it is positive. Good luck Saz222
I recently had smartlipo done on my hips, inner thighs and bum. I have had significant bruising and swelling, more so than I had expected. I read on a number of internet postings that the bruising is minimal. I am bruised, sore and swollen and was very sore for the first 3 days. I am on day 4 now and the pain is more bearable. I would not say that this procedure completely eliminates bruises, as I have 2 big black bruises on the sides of my thighs. They are going down now and are turning yellow. I would just like to let other people know that the bruising with smartlipo is not insignificant. I am pleased with the results so far however.
