Thanks again for the information! I actually found some at a local CVS on my way home from work! I didn't even have a cvs "card", but the girl gave me the discount anyway :) I can't wait to start trying it out! I still have a few of the scaraway strips that I've been using all along, but I'm going to try the scarguard out tomorrow. I wear dress shirts to work (collars) so the scar is always hidden anyway. I'm just very self conscious of it at all times, and will try anything to diminish it even more. It's not as bad as it was, but it's been 2 years and I really wish it would have been faded a lot more by now :( Anyway, Thanks again! I know that on a lot of health boards people go through a crisis, then make a post, but rarely follow up.
Hi Thanks for the update! Could you please post a link or the specific name of the version of scarguard that you used? I looked at amazon, but there were several different products under that name. Thanks if you can!
I had a TT last april, and can definitely relate to your situation. My surgeon told me to use vitamin e oil or cocoa butter. I tried it all, even mederma cream. Ultimately, the only real help I found was silicone sheets. I didn't start using the sheets until about 4 months after surgery. I'm coming up on the year mark, and the scar is still very visible. The surgeon said that the red/purple is part of the healing process and takes about a year to fade. There's no way mine will be faded 2 months from now; I can only hope that in time it DOES fade. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. The main issue I have with the silicone sheets is that I cut them to cover the scar, but because of the indentation in front of the neck (and neck mobility in general), the center of the strip starts to lift as soon as I turn my head to either side.
